WHAT TO EXPECT

 

JLR has an exciting opportunity for a Safety Compliance Engineer to join our Global Manufacturing Engineering team. As we continue our journey towards a sustainable and electrified future, this role will be crucial in ensuring that safety and compliance are integral to our engineering projects and processes across our manufacturing facilities.

 

The Safety Compliance Engineer will play a pivotal role in driving adherence to health and safety standards across JLR’s diverse operations, particularly focusing on machinery safety and compliance. You will be part of a dynamic team working across multiple manufacturing sites, to support JLR’s transition to electrified production and ensure that our safety standards are upheld.

 

Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities

 

  • Support engineering, facilities, and construction teams to ensure that health and safety are central to all aspects of factory and facility design.

  • Provide guidance and support to site installation teams during the design, build, installation, and buy-off phases of projects. This role may involve international travel for vendor sign off visits.

  • Lead and participate in machinery and manufacturing line concept reviews to guarantee compliance with health and safety regulations, with a particular focus on machinery safety.

  • Actively promote and improve health and safety adherence across the business, including external contractors and partners.

  • Ensure compliance with relevant health and safety legislation and best practices across all projects, with a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating risks.

 

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

 

  • Preferably NEBOSH or IOSH qualified.

  • A qualification in Machinery Safety is highly desirable.

  • Proven experience in health and safety compliance within a manufacturing environment, preferably automotive manufacturing.

  • Comprehensive understanding of health and safety regulations, including but not limited to:

    • The Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015

    • UKCA Marking

    • PUWER (Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations)

    • Fire Safety Regulations

    • Machinery Directive

    • BS, EN, ISO standards relevant to manufacturing and machinery safety.

  • A strong track record in driving health and safety improvements in complex, multidisciplinary environments.
