We have to be right for each other. So we make no apology for an application and selection process that is pretty thorough.

It is however designed to be as fair and straightforward as possible and to help you get the most out of it, please bear in mind the hints and tips below.

BEFORE YOU APPLY

Check you meet all the criteria for the role. If you’re uploading your CV, make sure everything is clear, concise and correct with no typos or spelling mistakes. Tailor it to bring out the experience most relevant for the position. And highlight your key achievements in previous roles, job titles alone won’t provide the detail we’re looking for.

TELEPHONE DISCUSSION

Make sure you’re somewhere quiet and that your mobile phone is fully charged. Be prepared to give us a brief overview that shows how your experience meets our criteria. And remember to ask us questions too! This chat is all about seeing if we’re the right fit.

ONLINE TESTS

We'll tell you in advance which tests you'll be taking. Your invite will include useful advice on how to prepare, but check the deadline for completing your tests; you won't be able to take them once they've expired. Most of them will be timed too, so must be completed in one go They could include situational judgement, psychometric, or personality-type tests.

INTERVIEW / ASSESSMENT CENTRE

Your invitation email will contain information about what to expect on the day, including the type of interview and any activities you'll be doing at your assessment. Plan your journey well and dress to impress because first impressions matter. Make sure you bring with you anything we've asked for.

BEHAVIOURAL INTERVIEWS

These interviews will look for how you demonstrate Jaguar Land Rover's core behaviours. When answering such questions, always remember to set the scene. Describe what you did, how you went about it and what the outcome was. Show how you solved the problem or improved the situation, and what you learned as a result.

TECHNICAL INTERVIEWS

These focus on your current technical knowledge and skills, and examine how they are relevant to the role.

STRENGTHS BASED INTERVIEWS

These are all about predicting potential, what you are particularly good at and what inspires you. The questions will seek to discover how well you are likely to do the job, whether you would be motivated by it and how you typically respond to situations you might face.

ROLE PLAY

Role play exercises help us see how you act on information we give you. You'll be briefed on the day and given some time to prepare a solution. We'll question you on your approach and rationale and assess your decision-making capabilities to see whether your solution meets the brief.

GROUP EXERCISES

Group exercises require working in a team to find a solution to a problem. We'll be assessing how you interact with the group and how you use the information provided to reach your outcome.

PRESENTATION

If you're asked to present, we'll either give you a topic in advance (usually five working days) or on the day but with some preparation time. You'll need to use that time to gather reliable information and prepare an insightful and engaging presentation. Make sure your response meets the brief and draws on personal experience wherever possible.

IN-TRAY EXERCISES

These focus on a business-related scenario that involves a list of associated tasks which you'll need to complete within a short time frame Some may simply require a yes or no answer; others may include drafting a reply to a customer complaint or report writing You could be calculating budgets, or analysing information.

PRACTICAL EXERCISES

These are exercises that are typically related to the role you'll be doing. We'll advise you what they are on the day and give you guidance and time to prepare.

Who should I report problems to if I’m experiencing issues when trying to apply for a role?

Can I request feedback for a recent application I have made? If so, how do I do this?

Unfortunately, due to the volume of applications we receive, it is not possible to give feedback at application stage.

Can I update my application once it has been submitted?

No, unfortunately once your application has been submitted it cannot be amended.

I have not heard anything about my application for a while, should I assume I have been unsuccessful?

We will always let you know the outcome of your application either way, so if it has been more than 4 weeks since you last heard from us then please drop us a line to ask for an update using the relevant email address at the top of this page.

Can I set up my profile or apply using my University or work email address?

No, please use your personal email address. We use the email address throughout our process and if you lose access to that email (by finishing your studies or resigning from your job) we will not be able to contact you and you will be unable to change the email in our system.

If you are an internal applicant applying using your JLR email address, please request via IT a Soft Code to access your emails remotely.

Can I use the Car Discount Scheme before I join?

No, you’re not able to apply before you join but you will have access to this as soon as you start.

I know Randstad recruit for temporary production operators at JLR but how do I apply for a permanent position?

All of our UK production operators are recruited on a temporary basis by Randstad. If we take on permanent operators they will be converted from the existing Randstad temporary population.

What’s the best way to find out about new job opportunities at JLR?

I was not hired for the role I applied to, will I be considered for other jobs at JLR in the future?
