Pathways
There are multiple skill discipline pathways within the Undergraduate: Creative scheme. Each role has certain entry requirements and involves a variety of work across many teams and functions within JLR. You can only apply for one pathway – so choose carefully.
TECHNICAL

The beautiful shapes, sweeping curves and luxurious styles of our vehicles would be nothing without our technical accuracy and attention to craftsmanship. As part of the Design Technical group, you’ll help to produce finishes that grab attention wherever they’re seen.
Design Studio Engineering - This highly creative technical function forges solutions to deliver the design vision for all our future carlines. Working closely with creative designers and modelling teams, you will guide the development of modern luxury vehicles by delivering geometric solutions using computer-aided design (CAD).
Surfacing – Bring to life design intent where it can be seen and touched anywhere on the vehicle. Here, you’ll join a technical CAD modelling team solving geometric problems to deliver elegant solutions for the Class A Production Surfaces in all new vehicle programmes.

What you'll need
You will need to be on track to achieve at least a 2.2 degree in transport or automotive design or digital 3D design.
In addition, you will have real passion for problem-solving and the curiosity to understand business challenges and deliver innovative solutions. You will also have strong numerical and interpersonal skills and the confidence to champion new initiatives.
Please note that our undergraduate placement opportunities are open only to penultimate-year students (those who will be returning to their final year of study or on an integrated Masters after their placement with us). All our undergraduate programmes have a fixed start date, commencing July 2025.

ONLINE APPLICATION
Simply complete your online application form telling us about you, your motivations and your experience. Creative Undergraduates and Graduates are also required to submit a portfolio as part of the application, please confirm that you have uploaded your design portfolio in the 'Cover Letter' field above (maximum file size is 5MB so PDF conversion might be necessary) or alternatively, you can enter your design website link.
ONLINE ASSESSMENT CENTRE
The next stage is the virtual assessment centre. This consists of a presentation exercise and behavioural interview. You’ll be provided with a preparation guide to help you at this final stage.
OFFER
We’ll share the outcome of your assessment centre within 2 weeks of you completing it. If you are successful, we’ll make you a verbal offer and confirm this in writing via email.

Before you join JLR, we’ll give you all the information you need through post-offer engagement events, online platforms and more. You’ll have plenty of opportunities to ask questions, we’re here every step of the way.

On successful completion of the undergraduate programme, you will be considered for a place on the graduate programme (subject to performance on placement, business demand and personal preferences).
INTRODUCTION
Start with corporate and local inductions into JLR, in July 2024. Receive an overview of our business and future strategic direction, network with other joiners / key stakeholders including our D&I networks and experience the workplace for the first time!
You’ll also get more details of your undergraduate programme and learning curriculum, gain exposure to our vehicles and meet the early careers team, here to support you at every step.
SKILLS DEVELOPMENT
During your year-long placement, develop key business skills including resilience, personal branding and self-care. And of course, gain experience working with industry professionals to develop your technical knowledge and abilities and bring your academic learning to life.
IMMERSE YOURSELF
Get the chance to tour one of our manufacturing sites and experience for yourself the transformation of our luxury vehicles. You might even get the chance to experience the capabilities of our vehicles first hand...

DEVELOPMENT
Own your own journey. Apply your learning to real-world business issues as part of your role. You’ll have the ability to undertake shadowing experiences for up to 4 weeks, helping you broaden your knowledge of your business function and connect with new stakeholders. Expect to get stuck in and lead innovation – you’ll make an impact from the start.
CELEBRATION
End your placement with an undergraduate recognition event, designed to showcase your achievements over the year and get final insights from JLR before returning back to university to complete your studies.
