Apprenticeships - JLR Careers

At JLR you will receive support from your Line Manager and your wider team. You will also receive support from the Early Careers Delivery Team and will be allocated a specific Cohort Leader who is your first point of contact for any issues and concerns, and to celebrate your achievements. On joining the programme, you may also be allocated a buddy who is a current apprentice.

As part of the apprenticeship, you will engage in regular reviews. These will be conducted by your ITM (Industrial Training Manager) or WBLM (Work Based Learning Manager) - part of the training provider's support team – and will include input from your line manager.

Your behaviours, study progres and development competencies will be monitored and assessed throughout the programme.

As part of the apprenticeship, you will engage in a tripartite review every twelve weeks. These will be conducted by the apprentice tutor – part of the university’s support team – and will include input from your line manager. All university modules are assessed and each assessment must be passed to complete both the degree and the apprenticeship successfully. As a JLR employee, you will also engage in an annual appraisal of your performance.

Yes, we welcome your application before your 16th birthday, we just ask you to confirm you will be 16 before the planned start date. You can also apply whilst you are still at school, we will ask you to confirm prior to your start date that you have achieved the required grades.

Our apprenticeship programmes are developed in collaboration with an education provider which is chosen by JLR meaning there is no need for you to choose an education provider. More information about your education provider can be found on our apprentice pages.

As an apprentice, you will be a full-time employee with JLR, splitting your time between the workplace and your education provider. A minimum of 6 hours of your week will be spent studying, either at your education provider or independently. Your study timetable will differ depending on the apprenticeship that you opt for. Most education providers will utilise a blended delivery style with a mixture of in-person, online and self-study modules. Further details will be provided to you before you join.

Yes, apprentices receive a yearly increase.

All apprenticeships are 4 years in length.

JLR fund the tuition and course fees. You will incur no costs to studying as part of an apprenticeship. In addition, you will receive a competitive salary.

Each apprenticeship programme will have its own entry requirements. If you have any concerns about these, we would encourage you to contact apprent@jaguarlandrover.com so that we can advise accordingly. You will be required to confirm your grades to our team so that we can advise accordingly. You will be required to confirm your grades to our team on A Level / GCSE results day. Advise on the lead up to this will be provided to you.

As an employee of JLR, your work will be based on business demand. Apprentices will work with their line managers and cohort leaders to explore development opportunities.

Guidance is provided on the application as to the likely site where you will be located for the programme you have applied to. This will be confirmed to you at the assessment centre and on acceptance of your contract.

You may be required to travel dependent on business need. Your line manager will provide you with this information.

For a limited number of roles, we do require you to have a drivers’ license. For the majority of roles this is not required, however it could be of benefit to you.

As a JLR employee, you will be eligible for the Privilege vehicle lease and purchase scheme providing discounts on JLR vehicles. There is also a shuttle bus which employers can make use of, free of charge, which runs to Whitley and Gaydon locations.

Usually not as our roles are allocated based on business need in particular areas.

In many areas of our business, hybrid working is possible. However, this is dependent on the nature of the work that you are doing and the team in which you are working. For all Early Careers hires we require significant in-person working to facilitate learning collaboration and a sense of belonging.

There is no relocation assistance. There will be a requirement for you to travel to your site and, where relevant, education provider regularly and when requested, therefore consideration to your living arrangements should be given.
