WHAT TO EXPECT
Join JLR as a Functional Safety Lead Engineer, where you’ll play a vital role in developing a comprehensive functional safety strategy for our propulsion systems. This is a unique opportunity to work on pioneering technologies, advancing JLR’s Functional Safety software architecture to ensure seamless integration from development through to delivery and validation.
In this high-impact role, you’ll work closely with Feature and Software Development teams and other cross-functional stakeholders to ensure our propulsion systems meet the highest safety standards.
As part of the Calibration and Controls department, you’ll contribute to enhancing Functional Safety processes, tools and software across JLR’s cutting-edge propulsion architectures. With access to industry-leading resources, you’ll shape the future of JLR’s safety standards in electric and hybrid propulsion systems.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

Establish robust and documented safety methods for diverse propulsion systems and coordinate Feature teams on Functional Safety activities.

Develop and refine automated Functional Safety processes and ensure tool capability aligns with JLR safety objectives.

Lead Functional Safety software architecture working closely with our team software designers.

Partner with suppliers and serve as a “Matched-Pair” liaison with software and calibration designers.

Drive improvement projects to enhance processes, tools, and safety methodologies across JLR’s propulsion systems.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED

Strong knowledge of propulsion system controls and calibration, ideally at a detailed level.

Hands-on experience in system modeling (vehicle and/or propulsion systems) and Functional Safety in automotive or safety-critical environments.

Skilled in requirements capture tools (DOORS, TRM) and modelling tools ( Matlab/ Simulink, ASCET or similar).

Proficient in safety analysis techniques (FMEA, FTA) and knowledgeable of ISO 26262 and other safety standards.

Experience leading structured problem-solving for complex engineering issues, with a focus on continuous improvement.
