WHAT TO EXPECT

 

As a BMS (Battery Management system) Lead Systems Engineer at JLR, you’ll be at the forefront of engineering advanced battery management systems and charging software for JLR’s next generation of electrified vehicles. In this rapidly growing area, your role will be crucial to delivering a seamless, high-quality charging experience through in-house software innovation. Working in an Agile environment, you’ll lead the design and implementation of control algorithms and software for the BMCM (Battery Management Control Module) to support JLR’s future product line.

 

You'll get the opportunity to collabroate with cross-functional teams, and take ownership of critical software development tasks, from concept to integration. This is an opportunity to impact JLR’s electrification strategy directly by applying your technical expertise in power electronics and control algorithms to achieve excellence in battery management.

 

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

 

  • Develop control algorithm concepts with system and hardware teams, using Simulink-based module design and testing.

  • Lead software validation through Module-in-Loop (MiL), Software-in-Loop (SiL), and Hardware-in-Loop (HiL) testing.

  • Oversee the testing, validation, and on-time delivery of battery management software for JLR’s product milestones.

  • Resolve BMS software issues and perform rapid prototyping as needed to contain and address software challenges.

  • Collaborate across teams to establish requirements, align with ASPICE and ISO 26262 standards, and maintain quality processes.

 

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

 

  • Strong understanding of power electronics switching, battery management, and charging hardware/software algorithms.

  • Hands-on experience in Autosar modeling with MATLAB/Simulink and development of control algorithms.

  • Proficiency in software validation tools and HiL environments for robust control code verification.

  • Knowledge of Powertrain or Electrical systems with the ability to work independently and prioritize tasks.

  • Excellent people and networking skills, able to foster collaboration across departments to drive best practices.
