WHAT TO EXPECT

 

This role is responsible for managing the battery management and cell supervisory system components within the Battery Electric Vehicle batteries for MLA H/EMA and JEA. The components include but not limited to; cell supervisory circuit monitors, wireless management modules and associated support commodities including control logic. Leadership of the team to engineer and deliver related commodities into unit programmes, meeting all defined targets and attributes (technical and commercial – on cost, quality and time). The individual will be accountable for the execution of all process activities to the Programme at all relevant gateways. They will manage a multi-disciplinary team through the engineering, sourcing and delivery of components for vehicle programs

 

You will be a key part of the BIW Delivery team, working closely with Product Development Engineers, Facility & Tooling vendors and Production Operations team to ensure that Bodyshop facility delivers to meet world class quality and efficiency standards.

GME BIW Delivery are on a journey, and we are looking for individuals who can bring experience to take us to the next level of futuristic / innovative Bodyshop’s.

 

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

 

  • Manage a multi-disciplinary team to evaluate battery management concepts, features and alternatives, develop production drawings
  • Manage matrix stakeholders - coordinate and influence a cross-functional team to ensure robust delivery. Lead a team through the engineering, sourcing and delivery of components for unit and vehicle programs on time, quality and cost
  • Build, maintain and manage relationships with internal and external suppliers and senior stakeholders. Manage conflict and negotiate between parties, where required, to maintain engagement whilst delivering against plan
  • Manage component costs, investment, vendor tooling and design and development
  • Develop, agree and deliver the test plan, confirm parts availability for all stages and ensure cross-functional requirements are integrated in module development
  • Manage project cadence and ensure transparent communication and escalation through:
    • Developing and maintaining the commodity plans
    • Planning and chairing effective commodity meetings
    • Monitoring tasks across the life cycle of the project
  • Undertake any other work as directed by their line manager in connection with their job as may be requested

 

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

 

Essential:

  • Extensive experience of delivering technical products through a team
  • Strong technical background with proven knowledge of battery management systems engineering
  • A deep understanding of design principles and the application of quality tools
  • Proven knowledge in the management and application of computer aided design techniques
  • Ability to act in an entrepreneurial environment and be resourceful and resilient to the changing demands of the business
  • Extensive experience of project management
  • Experience of budget and target management
  • Good communication skills
  • Degree or relevant equivalent experience preferred

 

Desirable:

  • Proven ability to build and manage multiple internal and external relationships in complex stakeholder environments
  • Previous experience of the automotive or manufacturing industry
  • Experience of Commodity delivery
