WHAT TO EXPECT
 

JLR currently have a great opportunity for an experienced Master Data Lead Engineer with team management experience to join their industry leading Data Team within Manufacturing. This team is responsible for providing actionable analytics and diagnostics to the wider Industrial Operations teams. The team will work hand in hand with the Business Process & Capability Team to deliver best-in-class process improvements and business insights backed with data-driven diagnostics, and to architect digital products as part of a coherent solution within the wider supply chain digital ecosystem.

In your role as Master Data Lead Engineer within Manufacturing, you will play a crucial role contributing towards our digital transformation. You will be responsible for a small team of Data Engineers whose aim is designing, building and maintaining robust, scalable and cost-efficient data pipelines to help deliver valuable insights. You will help support the team and build data assets that are trustworthy, reliable and reusable, helping to drive decision making within JLRs Manufacturing Department.


Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

 

  • Build within a modern infrastructure that allows the running of data pipelines that are cost effective, robust and scalable . As well as design, create, test and maintain data pipelines to support digital projects.
  • Identify, analyse and interpret trends in complex data sets, using statistics to deliver robust and accurate results in the face of variable data quality. Communicating conclusions to the business, advising on how to use these products to best utilise their capability, and ensuring their long-term adoption.
  • Act as the development lead for large or complex projects to ensure accuracy and robustness of analytics products and support the continuous development of technical standards and skills to keep us best in class.
  • Line management and mentoring of more junior direct reports to develop them and help them balance studies with delivery commitments.
  • Work with the business process & capability team and data office to ensure data quality, integrity and governance.

 

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

 

A strong interest in data analytics as well as strong capabilities in data management is essential within this role – along with a high competence of SQL Databases, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Dataform and Business intelligence tools, you’ll be hands on working on Big Query and Tableau/Looker-Studio in your day-to-day activities.

 

  • Previous experience leading or managing a team in one of the following functions: data analytics, software or application development, database development.
  • Experience of designing data models / data architecture as well as creating tests; unit testing, data quality tests, assumption testing.
  • Highly competent with SQL (Big Query) and experience of modern data-oriented architectures & databases.
  • Experience in an Agile Methodology with cloud data environments such as GCP and data pipeline orchestration products (Dataform/GitLab).
  • Experience for data visualisation and experience with an associated tool (Tableau, Looker, etc.).
