WHAT TO EXPECT

 

JLR currently have a great opportunity for Senior Site Reliability Engineer with a passion for quality, and proven experience of cloud infrastructure, software engineering and SRE practices. You will be embedded in their high performing development team, working on a variety of digital projects at their Software Centre of Excellence, based in Manchester.

Reporting to the Chapter Lead and working closely with other multi-disciplined engineers, you will be a valued member of the team, consistently delivering to challenging business objectives, with a focus on testability, robustness, and performance for exciting new projects. You will work on real projects alongside experienced engineers and with constant opportunities to learn and build your new site reliability career.

 

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

 

  • Work with product teams to ensure systems are secure, scalable and reliable.
  • Driving initiatives to automate processes and reduce toil.
  • Review deployment and operational environments, troubleshoot issues and managing technical operations.
  • Strong advocate for DevOps practices with experience building CI/CD pipelines.
  • Work as part of a Global Site Reliability Engineering squad to ensure applications are effectively supported and monitored and that manual work is minimized.

 

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

 

  • Experience in Unix OS and ideally recent experience in container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, etc) and a scripting language (e.g. Python, Bash).
  • Experience of at least one major cloud provider (GCP, AWS, Azure) and Kubernetes experience.
  • Previous experience of Site Reliability Engineering practices and principles.
  • Experience with modern CI/CD tools and techniques with previous involvement in all stages of the software delivery lifecycle.
  • Experience with source code management and version control (Git/GitHub/GitLab), as well as experience with modern CI/CD tools and techniques.
