WHAT TO EXPECT

An exciting time to join the Senior Leadership team as we bring to life the Reimagine Strategy with the production of our future electrified vehicles into Halewood Plant. 

 

This is your opportunity to lead two highly effective production teams to bring our next generation modern luxury vehicles into reality at the first JLR all electric plant. You will be motivated in approaching the role in terms of JLR’s Reimagine Leadership approach, coaching your team to meet the demands placed on them within Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, People and Environment whilst also supporting them with a growth mindset for themselves and their teams. Pushing them to deliver the exceptional, continuously striving for improvements, seeking out best practice and process improvements.

 

Reporting to the Plant Operations Director, this role will have a significant people management responsibility and will be a key player in the plant senior leadership team supporting corporate initiatives to ensure robust processes are embedded.

 

THE ROLE

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Lead, engage and develop a large team of JLR associates and managers
  • Overall accountable for the management of the production area including the control and organisation of all on track build activities and associated Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, People and Environment metrics are achieved
  • To deliver and contribute to the overall strategy at Halewood including non-product capital expenditure projects to maintain and improve the current facility and process
  • Introducing new product lines into Plant using Agile methodology
  • Oversee the management of a production team to ensure targets are achieved
  • Manage the cost budget to include labour, consumables, scrap, repairs and service contracts and continually seeks efficiencies in all areas
  • Work closely with the Plant Quality Manager to ensure that market information is understood, and corrective actions taken in car assembly processes to meet/exceed quality targets
  • Consistently deliver safety standards by ensuring all safety metrics are achieved, risks identified and mitigated and corrective action implemented for any accidents
  • Ensure internal and external quality metrics are achieved and robust action plans are in place for the continuing achievement and maintenance of quality standards
  • Ensure efficiencies are driven to deliver year on year productivity and reduce hours per unit
  • Development of the operational and strategic plans to improve the current facility and process
  • Review volume capacity, identify and eliminate bottle necks through close management of robust plans
  • Line of sight, to translate corporate and local area objectives/Business Plan into engaging and measurable actions within the area
  • Ensure Integrated Production System, Manufacturing Quality Operating Standard and Launch Quality Operating System processes are adhered to
  • Ensure compliance to TS 16949 and ISO14001
  • Identify plans to drive environmental performance through enhanced waste and energy management by delivering environmental improvement actions
  • Drive Test Procedure Management, Maintenance, uptime improvements and facility efficiency improvements
  • Develop strategies with support functions and key contractors and ensure their objectives fully align and support the plant objectives
  • Ensure IPS, MQOS and LQOS processes understood and adhered to throughout the T&F area
  • Work closely with ME, MTO and MPI in the delivery of new models and represents the Plant/Manufacturing in a range of meetings/forums including VQR, NMLR’s, LCM’s and Technology Forum best practice meetings
  • Creates a focus point for the cross-plant technologies that supports the delivery of a high-quality product meeting marketplace expectations
  • Undertake any other work as directed by their line manager in connection with their job as may be requested

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience

 

  • Successful experience of engaging, developing and leading multi-skilled teams in multi-shift operations
  • Extensive previous experience at senior management level including consistent delivery of targets and objectives
  • Experience of managing multi-skilled teams in multi-shift operations
  • Experience building and managing mutually beneficial relationships across a diverse, cross functional network
  • Strong leader who inspires others in becoming their best selves at work and being the frontperson to lead towards organisational & strategic success with a proven track record for achieving results through leadership
  • Thorough understanding and experience of Engineering/Manufacturing Processes, Tools and Techniques
  • Demonstrable experience in the application of a logical approach to Problem Solving
  • Working knowledge and experience of delivering safety metrics
  • Proven ability to work within tight deadlines & be able to manage and prioritise multiple activities simultaneously

  • Experience and working knowledge of Health and Safety Audits and ergonomics including risk assessments
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse set of stakeholders at all levels; including delivering presentations to work groups and senior management
  • Liaising across Chapters to industrialise new products
  • Demonstrated evidence of effective business behaviours
  • Commercial and brand awareness with insight into (our) customer base – their values and expectations

 

Desirable Knowledge, Skills and Experience
 

  • Cross Chapter exposure and experience
  • Manufacturing experience of technologies
  • Demonstrable knowledge of Legislative and Industry Standards in Automotive
  • Thorough Understanding and Application of Lean Tools and Techniques
  • Experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Experience of working in partnership with a Trade Union
  • Proven Project Management Experience
  • Microsoft package elements Power Point and Excel
  • Relevant degree or equivalent experience preferred
