POSITION: Senior Manager – Semiconductor Resiliency

WHAT TO EXPECT

 

Our Senior Manager – Semiconductor Resiliency, will be responsible for leading the Semiconductor Resiliency team, focused on developing and sustaining a robust semiconductor supply chain and risk assessment. This individual will be depended on to lead efforts in executing the semiconductor supply chain resiliency strategy and for building strong partnerships with internal cross functional teams and external semiconductor & semiconductor data partners.  This individual will also have responsibility for our Semiconductor Resiliency – HW, Data and Tools teams.

 

THE ROLE

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Work with procurement and HW teams to gather and validate all semiconductor usage data.
  • Work with semiconductor and third-party partners to understand the supply chain and risk management of semiconductors used within JLR vehicles and work with procurement and engineering teams to execute mitigation plans to overcome any risks.
  • Experience with product lifecycle management tools. Plan and deliver internally developed custom data management tools.
  • Interpret, consume, manipulate, and accurately manage a significant set of semiconductor data and its use across our product portfolio. Use this data to build strategy for supplier engagement, future use forecasts etc.
  • To support electronics delivery teams for assessment of semiconductor changes change and impact.
  • To ensure there is a developed plan to manage product obsolescence.
  • To support the electronic hardware design teams to define the commonly used semiconductor chipset across JLR electronics commodities.
  • Build strong working relationships with manufacturers, distributors & sub-tier suppliers.
  • Liaise directly with vendors to resolve problems such as single source risks, goods at risk of geographical or political disruption, counterfeit parts, export controls, end of life and obsolescence mgt.
  • Liaise with Vendors and Engineering on problem parts to obtain the right level of technical support as and when necessary, agree satisfactory resolution.
  • Manage the Vendor Base to support the business and procurement organization in obtaining the best prices and lead times through negotiation and visits.
  • Assist the Supply Chain Team with any problem associated with the supply chain management role.
  • Produce relevant supply chain reports regularly as and when required.
  • Create and manage a team of highly skilled semiconductor HW, tools and supply chain engineers and leaders.
  • Create a winning and inclusive work environment.
  • Travel as required.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

 

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

 

Essential

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent.
  • Demonstrable experience in one or more of automotive HW design, semiconductor selection, semiconductor applications, semiconductor fabrication, semiconductor distribution and supply chain management.
  • Strong understanding of and experience in various levels of the semiconductor supply chain, challenges, and strategies.
  • Proven experience in automotive electrical architecture, design, delivery and change management.
  • Strong communication, data management and reporting skills. Experienced in exploring and analysing data; applying statistical knowledge; creating data visualizations, dashboards, and reports; writing and communicating with clear and crisp reports.
  • Demonstrated experience of creating and managing high performance engineering teams and an inclusive work environment, hiring skillset, goals setting, delegating work, workload management, providing effective feedback, motivating teams.
  • Exceptional collaboration and teamwork skills; demonstrated ability for working across functional and organizational boundaries.
  • Exceptional demonstrated experience leading projects to completion.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and proven ability to learn quickly and acquiring domain knowledge.
  • Experience in working in the agile way of working and team structure.

 

Desirable

 

  • Strong knowledge of System/Hardware/Software architecture for safety-critical automotive applications. Strong comprehension of automotive SDV architecture and semiconductor roadmap.
  • Experience in working with automotive IDMs vendors or fabs, semiconductor distributor, strong knowledge of industry supply chain trends.
  • Project Management Certification
