WHAT TO EXPECT

 

We are seeking a talented Propulsion Durability CAE Subject Matter Expert; a role that will form part of a central role in JLR’s transformation into a skills-based company and continued development of the electrified propulsion systems. This opportunity will help support JLR's future strategy by providing expert knowledge in product design, virtual and physical analysis.

 

As the responsible Subject Matter Expert, you'll get to suppor the virtual verification of JLR’s Propulsion Commodity durability working in close partnership with the Technical Specialist.  You'll get to spend your time supporting the quality of the virtual design verification activity, driving design solutions to resolve issues throughout the product lifecycle.

 

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

 

  • Provide support for the Chapter Technical Specialist, Product Owners and squad members in the specialism of Propulsion Commodity durability CAE
  • Support the delivery of the DVP within the Agile framework, delivered on time across all programmes and components
  • Provide input into the status of the durability attribute, and technical risk judged and communicated at major gateways
  • Support task force activities to solve complex engineering problems
  • JLR problem solving toolsets championed on Propulsion Commodity durability issues
  • Design integrity and attribute targets achieved
  • Support the concept and design specification of Propulsion Commodities using a variety of Powertrain specific CAE tool and hand calculations
  • Adherence to System Design Specification and Corporate requirements
  • Support the development and documentation of CAE working practices and standards, lessons learned and prevent reoccurrence.

 

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

 

You'll come to this role with an extremely strong technical background and understanding of engineering and mathematical models and principals at the highest level.  It requires an ability to use these very complex data in a delivery environment and deliver results to plan. 

 

  • In-depth knowledge of design principles with respect to Propulsion Commodity durability failure modes
  • Analytical skills including the ability to conduct complex research into new tools and software
  • Expert problem-solving skills
  • Fundamental knowledge of Propulsion Commodity durability CAE including first principles
  • Understanding of PCDS and Agile working processes
  • Experience of Abaqus for linear static / dynamic / forced frequency and non-linear solves. Hypermesh & LS Dyna. for building detailed system models.  Fatigue prediction using proprietary tools – e.g. FEMFAT/nCode
