WHAT TO EXPECT

 

The Opportunity

 

The current limitations of Semiconductors in the world have created a need for a new way of thinking within our electronics hardware teams. Long term the need of advanced electronics and thereby semiconductors will continue to grow in order to support our business. JLR are looking to establish a semiconductor resilience team to focus on the semiconductor use throughout our vehicles. This team will support engineering and purchasing to manage a common set of semiconductors throughout the vehicle. The team will also provide supporting activities to the design teams reviewing our strategic semiconductor processor activities for future hardware development

 

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • To develop and manage a team to define the process of semiconductor selection and full life cycle suitability for JLR products.
  • To support purchasing teams with sourcing or suitable semiconductors
  • To support electronics delivery teams
  • To ensure there is a developed plan to manage product obsolescence
  • Monitor the supply chain, Develop and maintain supply chain intelligence – using JLR tools and others -  to provide early warning of potential supply disruptions and instigate early countermeasure to secure the supply chain
  • To support the electronic hardware design teams to define the commonly used semiconductor chipset across JLR electronics commodities
  • Build strong working relationships with manufacturers, distributors & sub-tier suppliers
  • Liaise directly with vendors to resolve problems such as single source risks, goods at risk of geographical or political disruption, counterfeit parts, export controls, end of life and obsolescence mgt.
  • Liaise with Vendors and Engineering on problem parts to obtain the right level of technical support as and when necessary, agree satisfactory resolution
  • Manage the Vendor Base to support the business in obtaining the best prices and lead times through negotiation and visits
  • Assist the Supply Chain Team with any problem associated with the supply chain management role
  • Produce relevant supply chain reports regularly as and when required

 

 

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

 

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Essential:

  • Solid understanding of electrical, electronic and electromechanical components with firm understanding of electronic design principles.
  • Previous experience in electronic component sourcing would be an advantage
  • Problem solver with an agile way of working
  • Motivated by change management and ability to drive change
  • Strong communication skills from operational to executive level.
  • Relationship and Network builder – internal and external
  • Fast learner – with a curious mindset
  • Business acumen and strategic mindset.
  • Ability of being a strong team player in parallel of driving topics independently.
  • University degree, preferably in engineering or business Personal Profile
