WHAT TO EXPECT

 

The Finance department offers a unique and highly challenging experience with business-wide exposure and development, where the key to success is the ability to manage our internal customer's expectations and deliver against their requirement using resources assigned against multiple and often conflicting priorities.

 

The Cost Engineering function is an integral part the Finance department and is responsible for ensuring the correct use of JLR funds appertaining to all aspects of supply chain in line with product aspirations to deliver profitable growth, by partnering the business in all other operational functions (principally Purchasing, Product Engineering, Advanced Product Creation, and other Finance functions).
 

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

 

  • Develop robust detailed and directional Should Costs (estimates)
  • Assist Advanced Product Creation (APC) initiatives and help identify commodity cost saving opportunities within the JLR supply chain
  • Support Matched Trio (Cost Engineer, Buyer and Engineer)
  • To participate in the process of supplier selection and supplier strategy planning
  • Support commercial and technical negotiations and deliver gap closure and support Product Development on design change cost impact

 

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

 

  • Knowledge of Body commodities: key cost drivers, raw materials, manufacturing processes and business and financial acumen, strong cost estimating skills
  • Strength of character and a determination to champion cost saving opportunities and drive cost gap closure
  • Ability to demonstrate communication, presentation and negotiation instincts
  • Effective communication, presentation and negotiation skills, to internal and external stakeholders
