The Opportunity
 

As the Group Leader for Transmission & Driveline Control Software,  you will be part of the Control System Design group within Powertrain Software. You will be responsible for the design and delivery of all of the Transmission, Driveline and Gear Selection Control Software. You will build enabling capability within the chapter and strategic partnerships. Your work will span across the product life cycle from concept design through delivered implementation models to validated system performance.

You will draw on excellent technical skills in control and calibration of conventional and electrified propulsion systems as well as systems engineering to provide strong technical leadership aligned with a clear strategic vision.

Working with the voice of the customer teams, and a wide range of sub-system and module owners around the vehicle, you will lead the delivery of exciting, complex features and functionality to deliver world class attributes via industry leading control design.

 

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

 

  • Delivery of the latest generation of hybrid transmission control SW for JLR’s 24 MY+ product lines including technical leadership of outsource partners.

  • Development of driveline control software modules with suppliers and partners to meet JLR standards for digital and security.

  • Development of next generation vehicle gear selection systems for Land Rover and Jaguar BEVs.

  • Leadership & development of capability within the chapter.

  • System engineering deliverables for associated FSOIs and SoCs

  • Functional alignment with Chassis, ADAS and functional safety systems

  • Designs linked to functional requirements and design documentation.

  • Rigorous FMA and quality measures

  • Intelligent diagnostic deployment and data analytics

  • Development of enhanced system design, virtual test and simulation capability to enable faster and more robust control delivery.

  • SW release and strategy documentation to support the calibration teams.

  • Delivery of advanced technology projects

  • Undertake any other work as directed by their line manager in connection with their job as may be requested

 

Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Essential:

 

  • Strong experience of controls and calibration delivery Transmission/Driveline Systems and Inverter Systems

  • Excellent knowledge of Hybrid and conventional propulsion systems.

  • Have you financially managed suppliers and conducted

  • Broad experience of performance, driveability and off road capability attributes

  • Extensive knowledge of propulsion and vehicle functional safety concepts and implementations

  • Experienced in project delivery throughout entire lifecycle. 

  • Proven team leadership and management skills

  • Demonstrated ability to deliver new technology and leap programmes.

  • Experience in systems engineering methodologies

  • Ability to build strong, valuable relationships at all levels of the business.

  • Ability to work under demanding programme and business constraints.
