The Opportunity
We are looking for a Reacting Flows Lead CAE Engineer to join the Powertrain Units ElectroThermal Fluids team. Working as part of a team of simulation engineers using virtual techniques such as CFD for simulating the electro thermal fluid systems within HV Battery units and internal combustion engines . CAE is an integral part of the units product development process and requires robust and repeatable processes to support the digital development phase. The application of such tools is used to assess and optimise design solutions as well as validating the design prior to the hardware release.
WHAT TO EXPECT
- Undertake virtual verification of the PT units.
- Apply 1 and or 3d techniques using standardised processes.
- Provide clear RAG status against engineering questions.
- Review CAD and feedback ahead of the virtual assessment.
- Quality assures non geometrical data ahead of the virtual assessments.
- Recommend and / or demonstrate design solutions to resolve any issues identified.
- Document status and recommendations.
- Undertake design optimisation
- Support and present at design reviews with key stakeholders: component design teams, PAT teams, packaging teams
- Work effectively with design teams to develop and optimise solutions considering multi-attributes within defined deadlines and time constraints undertaking simulations as required.
- Have some product knowledge and awareness of potential design constraints (packaging, manufacturing etc.) and ensure due consideration is given in developing solutions.
- Support the Methods squad develop tools and techniques which enhance capability, improve quality and robustness of virtual models
- Correlate existing analysis processes against physical data. Identify process short comings and opportunities to improve.
