JOB TITLE: Electric Machine Control System Calibration Engineer
SALARY:     £40,300 - £52,400
LOCATION: Coventry

You’ll be working with the eMachine Design Group Leader within the Powertrain Engineering team. The Controls & Calibration Engineer will support the delivery of real-time controls calibrations for Jaguar Land Rover’s future Electric Drive Units. You will be responsible for:


  • Generating eMachine control system calibration
  • Validating the generated calibration data on a variety of test properties (CAE, HIL, Dyno and Vehicle)
  • Perform structured testing activities to generate and validate calibration data for eMachine control algorithms
  • Support the commissioning and day to day running of test facilities and test properties with eMachine controls / calibration expertise
  • Support the software development teams by supplying measurement data and collaborating to improve the controls algorithms and implementations
  • Support chamber and climatic test trips (as required) to ensure calibrations are robust in all environmental conditions

You need to have a good command of Electrical machines & drive systems technologies. Previous experience of working in a controls and calibration environment in Automotive Powertrain or an equivalent domain. You’ll possess a demonstrable understanding of complex control systems and software.


You’ll need an understanding of eMachine control, practical application of controls system electronic hardware knowledge to support commissioning and debugging activities. In addition, you’ll also need experience of performing testing on dynos and / or vehicles or domain equivalents.


Ideally you’ll have eMachine controls and calibration experience as well as detailed knowledge of Powertrain calibration and controls. You’ll also have used MATLAB for performing analysis and optimisation of controls system calibrations and test results. Experience of working with Simulink / ASCET based controls strategies is also desired.


You’ll ideally possess a relevant degree i.e power electronics or equivalent experience.
