JOB TITLE: EDS 3D CAD Design Engineer
LOCATION: Budapest
The Opportunity
3D EDS engineer to support Low Voltage/High Voltage EDS projects
Responsible for the design and delivery of optimised Harness routings using JLR CAD standards and methodology to route to the Low Voltage/High Voltage system Electrical connections on a vehicle. This entails collaborative mindset interacting closely with cross-departmental teams (Body eng, Chassis etc), Manufacturing, Vehicle engineering within Product Engineering.
WHAT TO EXPECT
- Taking personal responsibility for Design Engineering tasks and deliverables.
- Responsible to design the wiring harnesses routing in line with JLR Bill of design (BoD), Bill of process (BoP) and harness DFM requirements
- Form effective working relationships with cross functional teams
- A working knowledge of 2D / 3D wiring harnesses geometry, change control, product definition and change management processes
- Understands technical requirements for delivery of vehicle EDS.
- Supports the delivery of the EDS commodity including geometry, cost, weight, quality and functional performance.
- Ensure that Harness packaging solutions meet the functional requirements & adhere to the keep out zones and SDS’s.
- Ensure that harness routing complies to the JLR methodology and CAD standards.
- Creation and maintenance of Electrical Design Solutions (DS’s) for a given programme(s) for Elec modules and Harnesses.
- Highlighting & leading Geometrical incompatibilities involving Harnesses within Programme and Vehicle Engineering teams for issue resolution.
- Escalation of any delivery shortfalls including programme gateway risks and programme assumption changes.
- Support and resolve any Harness package issues from Physical build events, complete 3D geometry vs Physical harness checks.
- Support Virtual Series countdown events, Manufacturing virtual builds, Program Go/No Go events, must resolves.
- Team member in an Agile operating model for a given platform / program to deliver 3D geometry.
- Create change documentation including 2D Drawing mark-ups to support Harness industrialisation.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
- Automotive background
- Experience with CATIA V5 or V6
- Self-starter able to sustain a high, multitask workload.
- Being computer literate, excel, word, powerpoint and easily adapt to company specific systems
- Good presentation skills with the ability to clearly communicate to all levels within the company.
