WHAT TO EXPECT

 

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Traction Battery Test Team within Jaguar Land Rovers Powertrain Build and Test Operations. 

 

The successful candidate will be delivering high quality electrical characterisation and performance data at the cell, module and pack level. The primary focus of the team is on enabling the operational delivery of high-quality test data to support the Design Verification (DV) of traction battery pack systems for hybrid and electric vehicles.

 

In this role, you will operate across our internal battery test facilities and will be responsible for reviewing and updating the pipeline of incoming test requests, scheduling the allocation of resources (facilities, equipment, instrumentation and people) to enable test delivery, and pro-actively managing scheduling risks in order to ensure that productive output is maintained.

 

You will be required to become highly proficient in understanding, planning and co-ordinating the specialised battery test requests and in managing the allocation of tests into automated test stands with appropriate specifications.

 

 

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

 

  • Enable effective delivery of the Battery Test Operations Team by optimising test facility scheduling and conformance.

  • This will be achieved by:

  • Reviewing testing quarterly forecasts and determining assessing feasibility within the facility

  • Liaising with other planners and customers to obtain test details, as well as assessing customer priorities and the impact on scheduling

  • Scheduling and Leading Kick Off meetings, as well as providing test status updates in planning meetings

  • Accepting and Rejecting Test Requests based on feasibility and information requirements

  • Creating Test folder structures for recording information, and recording all test request information within our Stage Gate Records

  • Assessing availability of test equipment to allocate resources and complete a detailed schedule for tests

  • Identifying any potential risks to test planning and liaise with internal and external stakeholders to determine appropriate mitigations or reschedule where required

  • Maintaining accuracy and currency of information within Jaguar Land Rovers Battery Test Facility Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) - FlexLab & Wrike.

  • Co-ordinate scheduling of planned downtime (Servicing, Calibration and Maintenance) to minimise disruption to test execution.

  • Take ownership of test schedule performance reporting and champion effective prioritisation and resolution of systemic issues.

  • Conduct annual process reviews on the Jaguar Land Rover Way

  • Setting Quality Objectives and Safety Objectives for the test facility

 

 

WHAT YOU WILL NEED 

 

Essential-

  • Experience of planning and managing a significant programme of test requirements and test execution/delivery.

  • Technical expertise and experience of test facility and test part preparation in a modern highly automated engineering test facility.

  • Experience of creating and maintaining tracking documents and reporting facility status to management.

  • Experience of negotiating, working and liaising with test facility customers and internal stakeholders (structured communication)

  • Knowledge and practical experience of Quality Management Standards (IATF16949 & ISO9001).

  • Practical experience of conducting effective internal Quality and Safety audits.

  • Natural problem-solver with structured approach to problem solving in a technical environment.

  • Proven ability to plan, co-ordinate and control own workflow and achieve quality results.

  • Proven ability to adhere to all safety requirements and challenge others to do likewise.

  • Educated to Degree level (Level 6) in a Systems, Mechanical, or Electrical/Electronics Engineering related field, or equivalent experience preferred.

  • Functional Skills Level 2 or equivalent in English, Maths and Science.

  • Computer literate, including Microsoft Office competency to produce plans, presentations, graphs, process and Single Point Lesson (SPL) documents.

 

Desirable-

  • Educated to Masters Degree level in a Systems, Mechanical, Electrical/Electronic or related field.

  • Experience of process development and documentation (Guides, Single Point Lessons, Safe Systems of Work) and associated continuous improvement.

  • Competent in structured formal problem-solving methodologies (DMAIC, 8D, etc).

  • Experience of working with environmental chambers, coolant chillers systems.

  • Experience of working with electrical test equipment and data acquisition systems.

  • Practical experience of preparing for and supporting external audits.

  • Experience of working safely in High Voltage or high-risk environments.

  • A full UK driving license with less than 6 penalty points, no disqualification, 2 years accident free record.
