Our Purpose framework
'live the exceptional with soul'

Our Purpose Framework sets out why we exist, what we are striving to achieve and how we are going to create it. The Framework is made of three layers:

Purpose

The Purpose statement articulates why we exist as an organisation. A Purpose is aspirational and can feel uncomfortable as it sets out where we want to be, not necessarily where we are right now.

Mobilising Change Idea

What we need to change to realise our Purpose and deliver a true modern luxury experience for our customers.

Creators' Code

The behaviours that are integral to our success. Behaviours we hold ourselves and others accountable to. How we 'show up' every day.

OUR CREATORS' CODE

WE HAVE A CODE, IT SHINES IN EVERY ONE OF US

Our Creators’ code has been carefully crafted with our people. This code of behaviours is integral to our ability to achieve our aspirations as an organisation; it is the ‘how’ we deliver. These behaviours will create a mindset that will inspire understanding, collaboration, learning, and staying flexible to achieve high-performing results.

BRINGING THE BEST OUT OF YOU

BRINGING THE BEST OUT OF YOU

At JLR we are passionate about your personal growth. To support this we provide exceptional and inclusive learning and development opportunities and experiences to our people, supporting personal and business growth everyday.

Regardless of your role, if you are curious and want to develop yourself and your career, we will invest in your learning and development to optimise your performance.

In fact, in our ever-evolving workplace, consistent development is essential.

Furthermore, you will benefit from a supportive environment where your managers share what they are learning and encourage you to grow and stretch, with regular feedback and dialogue to help shape your goals and development plans.

Additionally, our managers, or suitable peers, will coach and mentor you to ensure that you maximise your performance and progress.

YOUR GROWTH & DEVELOPMENT

YOUR GROWTH & DEVELOPMENT

The JLR Learning Academy enables our people to learn, create, grow and support others to do the same. This is done by daring each other to embrace the changes and challenges we face and ensure our future is bright.

Learning does not always take place in a classroom. It will take place in a blended manner and requires curiosity. You are the most critical influence on your learning and development, so we encourage you to be bold when maximising your potential.

ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS

ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS

JLR values knowledge and employees who are passionate, about growth. To help you become an expert in your field, we will support you in acquiring academic, vocational, or professional qualifications.

The availability of academic, vocational, and professional qualifications is determined by business needs and the funding available. Some of our engineers are completing postgraduate courses in sustainability, electrification, or automation. In many cases, these courses are available to employees after completing an early careers program.

Professional qualifications through the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS), Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), or Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) may form part of some schemes as appropriate. These can lead to professional accreditation.

Lifelong learning in academic and vocational courses provides opportunities to advance your career. Our groups of subject matter experts and technical specialists make sure our learning is always relevant, up to date, and brought to life throughout its creation and delivery.

PROFESSIONAL ACCREDITATION

PROFESSIONAL ACCREDITATION

JLR values the professionalism of our knowledgeable and passionate employees. Your professional development is key to ensuring your knowledge and passion is supported by accredited competence.

Many of JLR’s academic qualifications or development programmes are aligned to professional registration or accreditation and this can lead to professional accreditation with the appropriate professional institution.

All our Technical Apprentices and Graduates are encouraged to request a professionally registered Engineer Mentor to support their professional development into ICT Technician, Engineering Technician, Incorporated Engineer, or Chartered Engineers. Technical Apprentices and engineers on our graduate schemes benefit from our schemes being accredited by the Institution of Mechanical Engineering (IMechE) and the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET).

Our mentors and mentees form a like-minded professional community who support each other and nurture all prospective professional engineers through mentoring.

This supports and encourages lifelong growth and Continuous Professional Development throughout your growing career with JLR.

EMPLOYEE LEARNING SCHEME

EMPLOYEE LEARNING SCHEME

The Employee Learning Scheme (ELS) is a fantastic and unique JLR benefit which entitles JLR people to a set amount of funding which they can use to spend on learning experiences outside of JLR, and that are unrelated to the workplace. This could be a language you've always wanted to learn, or a sport you've decided to take up.

There are a huge variety of courses available for you to choose to learn almost anything. You can also recommend courses or suppliers to the scheme through the website if you have a suggestion in mind.

The funding is available to all permanent JLR people, and everyone has access to the funding amount set by the ELS Committee. This can be used individually or can be put towards a group booking with your colleagues.

FLEXIBLE WORKING

We want everyone at JLR to have the perfect work-life balance. That is why we have a range of policies in place to support their well-being and wider needs. These include generous and comprehensive schemes for maternity and paternity leave and several other family-friendly policies.

Many of our roles offer the opportunity for hybrid working, where you can split your time between working from home and in the office.

AN INCLUSIVE EMPLOYER

CHANGING THE CONVERSATION. MAKING THE CHANGES.

As our industry continues to transform at pace, we continue to champion the diversity that strengthens innovation, helps win the war for talent, evolves our senior management structure. So we go beyond recruiting, training and retaining an engaged, skilled workforce to addressing issues such as the gender pay gap and inspiring young people today to see how they can become the senior management of tomorrow.

JLR signing the Race at Work Charter is a significant milestone, making us the first car company to be featured on the list. And already our commitment to diversity has created record numbers of female engineering apprentices joining JLR.
