As JLR accelerates the fundamental shift in propulsion technology, from ICE to Electrified powertrains, different metrological challenges arise to combustion engines.  The SME-XCT & NDT will lead investigations into component quality, assisting engineers with the capabilities of XCT and supporting route cause investigations to improve the quality of components. This role will work across all squads within powertrain, supporting everything from early design to warranty recovery and supplier liaison, drawing on, supporting & coaching the resources available in the team and facility in Whitley Metrology Laboratory, as required.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

• Deliver effective use of XCT & NDT investigations to support the development and validation of designs through Powertrain Engineering. 
• Drive and support supplier liaison meetings to achieve performance optimised components that function as intended. Actively supporting the cross functional squads for emerging quality issues.
• Lead radiation protection for the metrology laboratory, ensuring that all safety regulations are complied with and the RPA have all required documentation.
• Lead the servicing and maintenance schedule for all XCT & NDT equipment ensuring that preventive maintenance is complete and equipment functionality is maintained.
• Manage and deliver metrology studies whilst supporting programme deliverables on multiple programmes, System feasibility analysis, Local Alignment Measures, Senior management reporting, etc

 
WHAT YOU’LL NEED

• Experience of applying metrology skills and knowledge in solving engineering problems.
• Applied knowledge of CT fundamentals and scanning principles
• Strong capability in data analysis using VolumeGraphix. 
• Experience in leading NDT investigations as well as suggesting other opportunities within the NDT field. 
• Radiation Protection Supervisor Accreditation alongside experience liaising with RPAs.
• Applied knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) including both ISO and ASME standards. Sound first principles measurement knowledge.
