WHAT TO EXPECT
JLR are developing a diverse portfolio of propulsion systems for our modern luxury passenger cars. With increasing focus on emissions and sustainability in addition to continually improving performance, durability and reliability attributes, these propulsion solutions are the most challenging we have ever delivered.
As leader of the Durability and Validation (DV) team you will be responsible for the technical development of hybridised internal combustion engine propulsion systems, ensuring they meet the required durability, robustness and reliability attribute targets. The DV team, work with Design and Release (D&R) teams to positively influence the design and specification of components and systems in advance of conducting all required testing for development and validation.
Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities
The Durability and Validation Manager is responsible for a team who are the technical authority and deliver all hybridised internal combustion engine durability, robustness and reliability validation attributes and testing.
- Technically responsible for all aspects of internal combustion engine durability, robustness and reliability.
- Lead and manage up to 14 experienced engineers, enabling, motivating and inspiring them.
- Support or lead multiple complex problem resolution topics with expert knowledge of automotive quality tools.
- Drive continuous improvement of own and wider teams with regard to durability, robustness and reliability.
- Manage team and department knowledge around internal combustion engine durability, robustness and reliability, ensuring team share knowledge through appropriate reviews plus populate and grow our body of knowledge accordingly.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
- Detailed, relevant knowledge and extensive experience of internal combustion engines and all aspects of durability testing.
- Strong technical background with knowledge of power unit design and validation at component and system level.
- Experience of leading issue resolution both individually and contributing/leading a cross-functional team.
- Expert knowledge of problem solving and quality tools (e.g. six sigma green belt) together with a structured, logical and objective based approach to all aspects of their role.
- Experience in working with automotive tools such as 8D, MatLab, & Concerto.
