SALARY: £50,000 - £58,000

POSTING START DATE: 22/11/2024

Product Engineering at JLR is centred on innovation and creativity. From advanced driver assistance systems to developing the future of electric propulsion, the opportunities to create exceptional experiences for the future of motoring are wide-ranging. You'll work alongside industry experts to drive product strategy, manage programs, analyse performance, and lead transformation initiatives. Exceptional careers that bring world-renowned vehicles to life start here.

WHAT TO EXPECT

As a Technical Project Leader for JLR’s Propulsion Technical Delivery team, you’ll get to act as primary point of contact for one or more Vehicle Programmes.  This is an opportunity to build and maintain collaborative relationships with a large number of stakeholders needed to make a car a reality.

This is also an opportunity to support the Technical Delivery Manager in the delivery of all Powertrain content for your programme(s) (through all stages of development, from concept, through prototype builds and validation, to Launch and into volume production).

Few roles in JLR get the chance to influence the entirety of the propulsion system, with the same breadth of stakeholder collaboration, directly impacting how our customers experience our exceptional products,  as this Technical Project Leader role does.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Cultivate collaborative relationships with key stakeholders to ensure you can identify and swiftly mitigate emerging risks affecting the Powertrain, keeping the product creation process on track and to budget.
  • Ensure commodities’ technical, timing and cost assumptions remain aligned with the procurement, tooling cost, engineering (from both internal teams and from supplier teams) design and development cost budgets.
  • Monitor the ongoing programme expenditure and work with Engineering and Finance teams to ensure sufficient funds remain available to complete the necessary work
  • Inspire and lead a team of engineers to ensure their commodities’ requirements are clear, and that designs are concluded and validated on time.
  • Prepare high-level status summaries, as required, for the various Engineering and Industrialisation Programme teams, managing the auditable elements of our product creation and delivery system

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

  • A background in Project Management (knowledge of Agile methodology preferably) with a successful track record of project delivery
  • Demonstrable experience of stakeholder management that supports conflict resolution and on time, to cost project delivery
  • A demonstrable analytical, problem-solving mindset with a talent for influencing and persuading others
  • Relevant degree (such as engineering, business management, project management) or equivalent experience
  • Ability to independently travel between JLR sites throughout the West Midlands
  • Whilst not essential, it is advantageous to have come from an engineering background

Creating Modern Luxury requires a modern approach to work. At JLR, hybrid working is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement providing employees more choice and flexibility around how, when and where they work. Some roles require more on-site work, but details of this can be discussed with the hiring manager during the interview stage.

We work hard to nurture a culture that is inclusive and welcoming to all. We understand candidates may require reasonable adjustments during the recruitment process. Please discuss these with your recruiter so we can accommodate your needs.

Applicants from all backgrounds are welcome. If you’re unsure that you meet the full criteria of a role – but you're interested in where it could take you – we still encourage you to apply. We believe in people's ability to grow and develop within their role – it’s what makes living the exceptional with soul possible.

JLR is committed to equal opportunity for all.
