WHAT TO EXPECT
The Finished Vehicle Distribution department is responsible for the movement of new Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles to retailers in over 100 markets worldwide. We organise, manage and monitor the movement of every vehicle produced globally. This ensures that delivery takes place in a timely and efficient manner, whilst maintaining the highest quality levels possible. Manging our operations and supplier base, as well as developing our current and future distribution strategy, are key to delivering a Customer First service to our markets, retailers and customers worldwide.
The key deliverable for Distribution Quality is to maintain Plant Quality standards throughout the global distribution chain, across all modes of transport, to the final delivery point. Where damage or a technical issue does occurs, it is our responsibility to manage the repair process and subsequently recover any losses from the liable party.
As a Distribution Quality Controller, you'll be responsible for damage prevention campaigns and the resolution of in-transit issues. You will need to develop strong relationships through regular interaction across various JLR departments and external suppliers. You will be a self-starter who is able to demonstrate initiative and a passion for excellence.
Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities
• Work with Suppliers to investigate in-transit quality issues, perform root cause analysis, and drive improvement amongst the supply base. Actively drive quality improvement initiatives to support achievement of the annual damage target (R/1000).
• Develop and manage the processes and procedures required to ensure vehicles are delivered to global Retailers damage free.
• Resolution of quality issues requiring investigation / repair at plant, retailer or approved repair network.
• Promote damage prevention and continuous improvement via lessons learned and the use of best practice.
• Manage the relationship / contract with external Quality suppliers including Retailers / repair centres.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
• Background in the Automotive Industry (within an OEM or Supplier) or experience working in one or more of our stakeholder functions e.g. Engineering, Manufacturing, Technical Service or Quality.
• Good technical knowledge of automotive vehicle systems.
• Experience of problem solving and root cause analysis tools and techniques (8D etc).
• Ability to quickly understand and challenge processes.
• Ability to drive the resolution of technical issues and lead activities with cross functional teams.
• Advanced knowledge of MS Office.
• Ability to work individually or as part of a multi-functional team and to work both strategically and at a detailed level.
• A valid driving licence. The role will require occasional travel to other sites / distribution compounds / ports - it is therefore expected that candidates will be able to drive.
