POSITION: Software Architecture Summer Intern

Jaguar Land Rover North America’s internship program is a great opportunity for college students entering their junior or senior year, or who are currently in a graduate school program, to gain hands-on experience in the exciting world of the automotive industry! This is a great opportunity for personal growth and development from a business and learning perspective.
In this internship, you’ll work within our SW Architecture team to support our product squads in uncovering and delivering excellent user experiences. Our Portland team focuses on digital products, specializing in complex user experiences with cutting-edge technologies like autonomous driving, in-cabin experiences, augmented reality, and off-board solutions. You'll gain exposure to SW Architecture, Systems Engineering, Mobile Apps, UX Design & Research, DevOps, DesignOps, and Agile Delivery Management in a constantly evolving and complex design environment.
Details of the program:
- The program is open to students at a Junior or Senior level in their Bachelor’s Degree program or a Graduate Program
- The Internship runs from June 16, 2025 to May 22, 2025
- 40 hours per week during business hours (Business Hours: Monday- Friday 8:30am-5:00pm)
- Hybrid Schedule available
- Paid Internship:
- $26/hour for students in an undergraduate program
$31/hour for students in a Master's program
$37/hour for students pursuing PhD
- $26/hour for students in an undergraduate program
WHAT TO EXPECT:
- Contribute to developing and testing software prototypes for vehicle systems, including real-time components
- Assist in automating diagram generation and documentation workflows using scripts and tools and contribute to best practices for documentation and architectural diagrams
- Customize pipelines for architecture tools to collaborate on Toolchain integration
- Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including sw architects & engineers, product managers, and UX research, to assist in designing modular & scalable architectures.
- Research emerging industry trends in software architecture, documentation tools, service-oriented architectures in automotive
- Perform other duties as required.
What you will need:
- Bachelor's degree in progress or pursuing a graduate studies degree during FY 25/26
- Proficiency in Python, C++ or C
- Hands-on experience with Git
- Familiarlity with software architecture principles & tools (UML, system modeling etc), design patterns & object-oriented design principles
- Experience with scripting tools and, automation frameworks
- Basic understanding of AI/ML concepts, algorithms and frameworks (e.g. TensorFlow, PyTorch)
- Experience using Visual Studio Code including extensions for different diagrams and documentation
- A passion for problem solving and the curiosity to understand business challenges and deliver innovative solutions, backed by strong interpersonal skills and the confidence to champion new initiatives
- Excellent collaboration, observational, interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills alongside the desire and ability to see things from multiple perspectives
- Eligible to work in the United States at time of application
