OPPORTUNITY
ME BIW is currently involved with introduction of all new bodyshop projects and changes to existing facilities to support the JLR cycle plan. This role is responsible for the development and implementation of feasible, cost effective manufacturing solutions – From concept planning, through installation and into production, working closely with product Development Engineering and Plant to determine optimum solutions. The position will require travel to the engineering centres as well as placement at the manufacturing plants.
WHAT TO EXPECT
- The role will involve supporting the local Joining Engineer in ME with weekend support to manage the line builder to install, commission, buy off and drive process optimisation through the build phase.
- The role will require working with JLRs onsite Joining Dept, Plant quality teardown, Maintenance, as well as process and Engineering to deliver required outcome in our Nitra facility.
- The engineer will be expected to manage the JRM process with the vendors and the role will cover joining technologies: SPR, RSW, FDS, Adhesive application and Quiss monitoring systems
- Joining structural Integrity (sealer, SPR and RSW teardown % pass rate);
- Destructive & Non-Destructive testing (DT/NDT) documentation consolidation & buyoff;
- Developing Joining parameters and processes to Ensure Engineering specifications are achieved;
- Assist with New Model launch equipment commissioning when calibrating Joint Configurations;
- Managing Design changes and adapting processes to suit;
- Overseeing implementation rework processes for containment of any failures;
- Reviewing Material Specifications set by product Development, for manufacturing feasibility;
- Investigating Future Technologies and feasibility for Manufacturing alongside PD Team;
- Assisting & Advising Manufacturing Engineering on Manufacturing Joining Issues;
- Project managing Line Builders to JLR in the correct application of JLR Joining Methods and joining integrity;
- Support Virtual build analysis with Timely and Robust Joint Integrity data;
- Project manage work through development and monitoring of timing plans with consolidation of production schedules;
- Manage issues and escalate where appropriate (programmes, Manufacturing, supplier);

- Experience of vehicle body assembly process development, joining technologies and body assembly equipment including tooling, automation and robotics.
- Proven project management experience in installation/commissioning programmes.
- Computer literacy – Microsoft and CAD.
- Degree or equivalent in Engineering discipline.
- Experience of a Launch environment.
- Experience of certification processes.
