POSITION:  Paralegal: Marketing & Intellectual Property 

LOCATION: Mahwah, NJ

RECRUITMENT SALARY RANGE: $70,500 - $92,000

Reporting to the Corporate Counsel, Intellectual Property and Marketing, you will  specialize in marketing and advertising related to our brands and products. You will also closely partner with the relevant legal and business teams to address the legal and regulatory landscape and provide business-practical support.

Marketing

  • Collaborate with in-house and external legal professionals and brand leaders 
  • Review marketing and advertising assets 
  • Request, review, and archive evidence for claims substantiation 
  • Maintain, apply, and update master lists of disclosures 
  • Evaluate and prepare agreements (such as product placement, partnership, brand ambassador, talent, and other agreements) 
  • Liaise with US and international colleagues to efficiently apply legal strategies

 

Intellectual Property

  • Manage trademark renewals; correspond with trademark offices and external counsel 
  • Collect specimens of use for trademark renewals 
  • Review trademark applications and edit specifications  
  • Conduct clearance searches  
  • Investigate potential infringement by 3rd parties  
  • Draft correspondence and develop strategies as needed (cease and desist, domain name, takedowns, and other IP enforcement matters) 
  • Collect evidence and documentation related to counterfeits 
  • Assist with co-existence agreements and other aspects of settlement 
  • Train business teams, external paralegals, and other legal professionals 
  • Perform other duties as required by managing Corporate Counsel, including marketing-related activities.  

 

 

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

Along with your ambition to achieve the exceptional, there are several skills that you’ll need to have to help you succeed here, including:

 

  • Associates degree or higher 
  • 6+ years of experience as a paralegal is essential  
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail  
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills   
  • Ability to provide clarity to business, legal colleagues, and external counsel  
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office

 

Preferred Criteria

  • Paralegal certificate or comparable work experience
  • Proficiency in ad review platforms 
  • Previous automotive experience is a plus  

 

 

Schedule: Hybrid Ways of Working (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday - office days; Wednesday and Friday - choice days)

 

*Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized components, including location, skills, experience, and market factors. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus in addition to a full range of medical/health, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick/personal, and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employees will be in an “at-will position”.
