POSITION: Local Product Engineering Technical Specialist, Body & Chassis

LOCATION:  Mahwah, NJ

RECRUITMENT SALARY RANGE: $107,500 - $150,000*

Reporting to the Senior Director of Software & Site Operations, you will lead a team of engineers embracing and driving the delivery of the departmental objectives, utilizing world class technical capability, removing roadblocks, supporting and nurturing the team whilst consistently demonstrating the very highest standards in terms of Creators Code behaviors.

 

What to expect: 

  • Engineering Market Champion: Act as the technical specialist for engineering quality in the body & chassis commodity organization.  Partner with in-market Quality, Customer Care and Commercial teams while working closely with tech center peers in the UK to deliver quantifiable progress towards JLR’s quality objectives.
  • Vehicle Quality Issues: Triage, assess, and resolve quality issues (technical assists) in the field , working closely with the Technical Services Director, Senior Diagnostic Specialists and LTS helpdesk to ensure all levels of escalation have the right information and teams have the tools and skillsets to deliver the right fix successfully at speed. Manage independent issues locally to speed up the return of clients to their vehicles whilst sharing technical observations with the UK operation. Ensure the team are delivering the KPIs and exceeding expectations.  
  • Customer Love: Lead the team in delivering industry-leading customer experiences. Work in collaboration with the senior leadership and commodity peers in market, owning status, management and resolution of challenges supported by robust planning.
  • Quality Strategies, Prioritization & Resolution: Collaborate with local and UK stakeholders to create value add strategies to achieve JLR’s quality objectives. Drive the successful execution of these strategies within the Body & Chassis commodity, owning process, data procurement , interpretation and pace of detection and escalation. Engage Agile processes to drive solutions. Escalate high risk issues with urgency throughout the organization and advocate their rapid resolution. Champion the visibility and resolution of high priority issues for the market in current and upcoming products.
  • Launch Readiness: Understand new product, new feature, and model year launches to develop a deep understanding of new technologies and capabilities. Act as market champion for the commodity and work to prepare the team ,  colleagues in Commercial and Quality for new product introduction.  
  • Prognostics and Diagnostics Over the Air: Work with central teams to detect vehicle issues before they affect customers.
  • Prevent Reoccurrence : Lead processes to review and adapt strategies and tactics in order to prevent repeat problems engaging stakeholders across JLR to achieve best results.
  • Perform other duties as required

 

What you will need:

  • Bachelors or Graduate Degree (preferred) in Mechanical, Automotive, Systems, Electrical, Software, or applicable Engineering field. Candidates with equivalent work experience will be considered.
  • 8+ years of experience in body and chassis engineering, with a focus on control systems, quality, or calibration.
  • Advanced knowledge of JLR products, technologies, and engineering processes strongly preferred.
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical information to stakeholders throughout the organization.
  • Experienced at managing a team, leading through change and transformation.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to use data to drive decision-making.
  • Six sigma quality toolset experience.
  • Exceptional project management skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives, influence stakeholders and meet deadlines
  • Strong organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Must be a team-oriented self-starter.
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet firm deadlines, while consistently delivering a high standard of work.
  • Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills are essential, and must be comfortable presenting to all levels of the organization.
  • Must have strong business acumen, and the ability to work with people at varying levels with the organization and network.

 

 

Schedule:  Hybrid Ways of Working (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday - office days; Wednesday and Friday - choice days)

 

*Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized components, including location, skills, experience, and market factors. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus in addition to a full range of medical/health, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick/personal, and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employees will be in an “at-will position”.
