JLR is developing a diverse portfolio of propulsion systems for our modern luxury passenger cars. With an increasing focus on emissions and sustainability, in addition to continually improving performance, durability, and reliability attributes, these propulsion solutions are the most challenging we have ever delivered.

 

Come and join JLR as a Lead Engineer for Durability Noise, Vibration, and Harshness (NVH) in propulsion. You will be responsible for the planning and delivery of power unit functional, durability, and attribute validation testing for one or more internal combustion engine programs, ensuring that this is executed safely, quality data is generated and analysed with the required integrity, and the outcomes communicated effectively.

 

It is essential that you have a strong background knowledge of propulsion components and systems supported with test and data analysis experience and a capacity to lead problem resolution within an automotive environment. Additionally, this role requires knowledge of how vibration impacts the durability and function of components in an automotive context and demonstrable experience in testing components or systems with respect to vibration.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

 

  • Principally responsible for the project delivery of power unit NVH functional, durability & attribute validation testing, ensuring the DVP is created and continuously updated with all required testing and all dependencies (enablers) are in place, on time to ensure the team is delivering the test
  • Ensure the required data quality is generated through tests being executed using the correct hardware, to correct procedures & customer timing requirements
  • The FL is responsible for ensuring correct documentation is in place and technically correct to facilitate DVP delivery, this includes test procedures, standards, RFQs
  • Lead continuous improvement activity including knowledge sharing and creation and maintenance of JLR company standards relevant to the role (TPJLR / STJLR)
  • Compile & facilitate technical reviews of RFQs and work instruction documentation to communicate DV test requirements at a detailed level to test facilities both internal and external, ensuring communication and buy-in from all stakeholders

 

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

 

  • Strong knowledge and experience of internal combustion engine noise, vibration, and harshness aspects of durability testing including use of Siemens Simcenter Testlab (LMS) data acquisition and analysis software or similar
  • Understanding of design principles and the application of forward model quality and problem resolution tools within a product engineering environment
  • Ability to communicate and form working relationships at all levels within business
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent in the relevant engineering discipline
  • Capability to work across multiple JLR and external test sites in the UK
