Product Engineering at JLR is centred on innovation and creativity. From advanced driver assistance systems to developing the future of electric propulsion, the opportunities to create exceptional experiences for the future of motoring are wide-ranging. You'll work alongside industry experts to drive product strategy, manage programs, analyse performance, and lead transformation initiatives. Exceptional careers that bring world-renowned vehicles to life start here.

WHAT TO EXPECT

We are seeking an accomplished professional engineer, ready to play a pivotal role in advancing the technical integration of our world class vehicles.

This is fantastic opportunity within the Vehicle Platform engineering organisation (VP), to lead a critical team developing concept engineering and developing future models. As a credible practitioner of technology, systems, and geometry in body, chassis, propulsion, or vehicle integration, you will be responsible for a specific architectural zone, ensuring system integration, compatibility with attributes and design aesthetics, and alignment with financial and content assumptions.

Utilising established processes, you will collaborate with core technical groups, vehicle engineering, packaging, and studio engineering to achieve well-balanced concepts, ready for handover to Agile squads and execution in the industrialisation phases, with quality built in.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Lead a team aligned to JLR’s Creator’s Code: Uphold a code of conduct and shared decency within the team, fostering a positive and respectful work environment
  • Integrate systems: Ensure compatibility of systems with all aspects, including tech centres and other stakeholders, to achieve seamless integration
  • Collaborate and Arbitrate: Manage and resolve issues related to Bill of Design, Bill of Knowledge, Bill of Materials and Bill of Process, including all interactions
  • Create Section Books in a 3-D Context: Develop 2-D sections and 3-D geometry to inform and enable tech centres in delivering the Engineering Bill of Materials (EBoM)
  • Develop and Adhere to Processes: Follow and enhance JLR processes and automated tools (AVA) for concept creation, ensuring process adherence and continuous improvement

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

  • Candidates must have demonstrable experience in delivering body, chassis, and vehicle engineering products. They should provide evidence of their contributions to successful projects, showcasing their ability to meet high standards and deliver quality results
  • Strong leadership skills are essential. Candidates should have a proven track record of leading teams effectively, motivating and guiding team members to achieve desired outcomes. They must demonstrate their ability to inspire and manage people to reach project goals
  • Proficiency in graphical and visual communication is crucial. Candidates should possess strong skills in delivering clear and effective communications, using visual aids and graphical tools to convey complex information succinctly and accurately
  • Expertise in using CATIA V5 or V6, or similar 3D design software, is required. Candidates should have hands-on experience with these tools, demonstrating their ability to create detailed and precise engineering designs
  • In-depth knowledge of vehicle attributes, systems, customer expectations, OEM benchmarks, and CQT (Cost, Quality, and Timing) metrics, ensuring that designs meet or exceed industry standards

Creating Modern Luxury requires a modern approach to work. At JLR, hybrid working is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement providing employees more choice and flexibility around how, when and where they work. Some roles require more on-site work, but details of this can be discussed with the hiring manager during the interview stage.

We work hard to nurture a culture that is inclusive and welcoming to all. We understand candidates may require reasonable adjustments during the recruitment process. Please discuss these with your recruiter so we can accommodate your needs.

Applicants from all backgrounds are welcome. If you’re unsure that you meet the full criteria of a role – but you're interested in where it could take you – we still encourage you to apply. We believe in people's ability to grow and develop within their role – it’s what makes living the exceptional with soul possible.

JLR is committed to equal opportunity for all.
