WHAT TO EXPECT
Within JLR Virtual Build & Test Operations, the Digital Vehicle Model Capability team are striving to create industry leading integrated 1D and MBS vehicle simulation capability, required for full / robust virtual validation and drive reduction in physical test. We are looking for exceptional engineers to join us in developing integrated and runtime performant vehicle models (particularly within the active chassis and electrified powertrain domains) to support the engineering of new and emerging product technology comprising complex interdependent and cross-functional systems
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
- Work with JLR’s CAE teams to understand their modelling and simulation practices and methods
- Acquire and apply product knowledge and awareness of potential design constraints to ensure due consideration is given in developing solutions
- Identify opportunities for replacing existing physical testing with virtual methods
- Identify and implement opportunities for automation of CAE workflows to enhance their efficiency
- Collaborate with 3rd party CAE tool providers to enhance existing methods and develop new ones to improve our CAE team’s capabilities and efficiency
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
- Demonstrable experience of modelling and simulation methods to solving real-world engineering problems
- Experience of component/system level development using CAE to meet defined performance targets
- Competent in use of relevant CAE, 1D and/or MBS tools, e.g. MATLAB/Simulink, CarMaker, Simpack
- Basic scripting skills in a relevant programming language, e.g. Python, C, C++ or MATLAB
- Experience and background in solving complex technical ideas and challenges
