JOB DESCRIPTION
Your main role as a Materials Forming Engineer will be to contribute to off-cycle innovation of materials for conventional cold stamping processes within GME Stamping, while also optimising supply chain efficiency and quality.
You will work closely with our operations teams in Castle Bromwich, Solihull and Halewood and other GME Stampings teams and will also support our programme delivery teams to ensure material is optimised for cost, quality and sustainability.

Working closely with Design, Product Engineering, other Manufacturing Engineering technology teams and our Manufacturing Operations we are proud creators of modern luxury in the form of high-quality pressed parts for our Reimagined product portfolio.
As part of this role, you will:
• Analyse and verify technical materials data, coordinate physical testing to confirm material applicability and stability, relevant to the JLR production environment and volumes
• Support the delivery of the successful industrialisation and implementation of new materials including writing any new standard documentation required
• Contribute to material supply chain optimisation, development and performance assessments
• Support Stamping Operations teams by answering technical queries and material support onsite within production facilities when required
• Contribute to the creation and maintenance of material related process standards e.g. blanker and ‘Head of Line’ specifications
• Support the timely ordering of material for Try-Out and Production Ramp-up for all new Model Programmes
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
Along with your ambition to achieve the exceptional, there are several skills that you’ll need to have to help you succeed here, including:
• Understanding of materials, and material properties and processes specifically relating to forming technologies
• A working knowledge of steel and aluminium manufacturing and press shop facilities (e.g. blast furnaces, cast houses, rolling mills, heat treatment lines, cut to length and blanking lines, destackers, reoilers, presses, etc)
• An ability to analyse and assess large amounts of data
• Relevant previous experience in material quality assurance, new technology introduction or similar
• Proven ability in delivering tasks &/or projects within tight timescales
• A track record of working collaboratively cross-functionally, influencing stakeholders and communicating complex technical detail that can be understood by non-expert audiences
