WHAT TO EXPECT

 

The Supply Resilience function, within Material Fulfilment, is responsisble for driving operational resilience & excellence across JLR’s production component supply chain. As a Supply Resilience Engineer, you will play pivotal role in ensuring our supply partners possess the required operational and organisational capabilities to support and achieve JLR’s manufacturing demand requirements. Through collaboration across the supply base, as well as key Enterprise stakeholders, you will be responsible for driving visibility in supplier delivery performance, as well as instigating targeted engagements across the supply base. Through supplier collaboration and on-site assessments you will coordinate teams to drive preventative problem solving and deliver sustainable actions to safeguard the continuity of supply across all of JLR’s global production facilities.

 

WHAT YOU WILL DO 

 

  • Delivering visibility in supplier delivery performance, identifying trends that require proactive supplier engagement in order to verify operational resilience and confirm continuity of supply.
  • Conducting on-site supplier assesments, bringing together cross-functional teams to assess supplier capability across multiple fields of actions, such as, production process & facilities, workforce & organisation, supply chain & logistics, commercials, Tier N management, as well as external risk management.
  • Preventative problem solving, identifying improvements required in the above fields of action in order to ensure corrective measures are delivered with our suppliers, in turn preventing significant issues and disruption to supply occurring.
  • Supporting the IO governance framework for proactive supplier improvement/turnaround activities.
  • Developing key strategic relationships with critical suppliers, ensuring structured two-way communication and collaboration is in place in order to proactively highlight potential risks, as well as actions required, to prevent potential supply disruptions taking place.
  • Identifying internal process improvements required to support the supply base in achieving operational resilience.
  • Applying lean tools and techniques as part of an integrated approach for supplier performance improvement activities.
  • Managing, monitoring and tracking resolutions to all identified problems, ensuring required improvement actions are achieved on time.

 

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

 

  • Experience in operational disciplines within an automotive production environment (e.g. Production Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, Launch, Planning/Scheduling, Quality).
  • Ability to analyse and break down complex, multidimensional problems or processes into its key elements to achieve common goals
  • Strong influencing & negotiation skills – ability to lead senior representatives in supplier environments
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are important to communicate across all levels, and these should be combined with a confident attitude. 
  • Ability to work in a disciplined and controlled manner with high levels of personal organisation and motivation
  • Can demonstrate strong numerical and analytical skills
  • Good understanding of lean production and supply chain principles
  • Experience of system improvement with manufacturing process 
  • Ability to work under pressure with high personal resilience
  • Flexibility and commitment as travel may be extensive in Europe and overseas 

Desirable: 

  • Degree or relevant equivalent experience preferred
  • Change management skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels
