The purpose of the role is to ensure that customer satisfaction is maintained through product conformance to agreed quality standards and processes. The responsibility of the Dyno Technician will be primarily defining, maintaining and developing the engine test processes, facilities and systems in line with specified Engineering and conformity of production requirements. 


The successful candidate will be expected to develop within the role as the plant quality wngine testing capabilities grow and mature. This is a key position within the Dyno Testing and Engine Investigation leadership team and the scope of work will be varied and demanding.


Daily you will be required to: 


•    Define, maintain and streamline test processes and procedures in line with quality, engineering and conformity of production requirements
•    Design and maintain the AVL Puma Test Programs, including bespoke programmes for line trial testing as required
•    Identify and address utilisation issues, coordinate and interface with appropriate cross-functional teams for resolution and improvement
•    Keep up-to-date with latest technologies and processes, and provide robust justifications where they may be of benefit if incorporated into existing or future Engine Manufacturing Centre facilities
•    Maintain AVL Puma engine parameter sets and data recordings to ensure robustness of the testing process
•    Assist with dyno facility department ensuring dyno facilities parts, stock lists and spares requirements are defined and maintained
•    Develop robust solutions where necessary to minimise facility downtime
•    Work closely with the other PQ technicians identifying gaps and help the development of work processes in order to optimise and maintain the facility, support high level fault finding, diagnosis and improvements.
•    Coordinate and maintain Engine Manufacturing Centre Dyno Test ECU Calibration files and hardware
•    Be one of the interfaces for the Dyno test area, liaising with PTME, Engineering Test, Plant Facilities (Controls, Leadec, Maintenance) AVL, external test facilities.
•    Regularly validate test processes and ensure they’re correctly applied, and they meet the expectations of the applicable engineering, conformity of production procedures and specifications
•    Support all the Dyno test team in test setup and in the investigation of any test concerns
•    Support PTME and CME teams in the development and monitoring of current production and future test processes and facilities to ensure continuous improvement and robustness of the testing.




To be successful in this role you will need working experience and a technical understanding of spark ignition engine dyno testing and an appreciation of the base engine components; function, calibration, diagnostics & emissions. You should have a working knowledge of AVL Puma (including development of VB Scripts), ETAS INCA toolset, Fuel Measurement devices are a requirement. The capability to lead and coordinate cross-functional concern resolution and improvement activities. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to influence at all levels. You will need strong analytical and PC skills, including Excel (MiniTab, AVL Concerto, MDA and other data analysis tools desired). You should also demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills to diagnose defects.

Ideally you will be able to show confidence and provide clear and concise direction to others, both internally and external to Jaguar Land Rover. You will display an ability to adapt to new production and testing technologies such as electrification.
