JOB TITLE: Senior Envrironmental Engineer
SALARY: £43,400 - £47,400

This is a brand new and exciting opening to join Jaguar Land Rover's Corporate Real Estate department as a Senior Environmental Advisor in Whitley.


The successful candidate will have the ability to improve environment matters in all our sites across the UK, which gives you the opportunity to travel.


In this role, you will advise project teams and clients on key environment matters related to real estate and planning applications.  Undertake environmental focused tenders, specialist assessments, and advising Property teams lead on site based solutions. As well as maintaining local, national and agency stakeholder engagement for each UK site, and supporting sustainability targets with internal environment compliance and estate management teams.



Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities


  • To provide environmental advice to projects including pre-app engagement; planning applications and; discharging all environmental planning conditions through either internal working or tendered consultancy support.

  • To undertake the development of environmental scopes of works, assess tenders for procurement, provide recommendations for procurement, appoint consultants and manage outputs

  • To be responsible lead for all UK site environmental licencing activities which support onsite development

  • To work with internal and external stakeholders to ensure ongoing compliance with existing planning conditions, current environmental legislation and business targets (relating to Sustainability)

  • To provide the business with ongoing specialist advice on technical matters such as but not limited to noise, ecology, air quality etc which allows the business to protect or enhance those matters at all UK sites.

  • To work with the Strategy & Sustainability Directorate team to support or promote Property requirements to help meet business environmental and sustainability targets

  • Undertake any other work as directed by their line manager in connection with their job as may be requested







  • Significant experience in environmental planning within a planning consultancy, commercial Real Estate or local planning authority which focuses on environmental matters of relevance to the business needs of Jaguar Land Rover

  • Indepth knowledge and understanding of current and emerging environmental legislation relevant to the business needs of Jaguar Land Rover including experience of permissions relating to pre-construction enabling works. This could include environmental mitigation such as protected species licencing and/ or land quality assessments

  • Significant experience in a demonstrable number of specialist environmental disciplines such as (but not limited to) noise, air quality, ecology, drainage, land quality or flood risk etc

  • Significant experience of writing request for quotations and subsequent tender assessments which leads to the procurement of services

  • Masters degree in relevant environmental specialism. Member working towards or having Chartered status with an appropriate environmental professional body such as but not limited IEMA or CIEEM



  • Ability and experience to supervise environmental consultants

  • Experience of using Geographic Information Systems

  • Suitable professional networks and knowledge of key officers and staff at relevant external stakeholders
