The Rotating Machine Test Delivery department supports all Jaguar Land Rover engine powertrain products at both Whitley and Gaydon sites and provides support for prototype testing.  The role cover Jaguar Land Rover powertrain products ICE, EDU driveline systems in end of line build sign off to on facility fault diagnosis.


As a Lead Diagnostic Engineer, you will support the operation of the test department providing support and direction for the customers test projects and department workflow in the discipline of diagnostic trouble shooting and pre-test sign-off checks. You will be responsible for leading the diagnostic engineers in the delivery of test bookings in line with operational processes and support the utilisation.


In this role you will lead engine test diagnostic activities for Rotating Machine Test including ICE, EDU, PiL and driveline ensuring team fully understand the priorities and requirements to achieve successful solutions. Leading the Engine Testing Diagnostic Support team in optimising operations for affective support of internal and external tests





  • Internal combustion engineer (ICE) or electronic drive unit (EDU) Knowledge
  • Proven experience in leadership and workload management
  • Proven ability to plan effectively and achieve quality results
  • Natual problem solver with proven experience and structured approach to problem solving in a technical environment 
  • Detailed knowledge of company health and safety requirements, including Risk Assessment, COSHH and SDS
  • Experience in a testing environment, with a knowledge of measurement technology and facility requirements



  • Knowledge of prototype engine test and or engine build processes and operations
  • Skills in fault resolution and root-cause identification are crucial, as is a methodical, logical approach to work
  • Previous experience of leading a team, the implementation of lean tools and processes
  • A comprehensive knowledge of Powertrain products
