As a Senior Hardware Design Engineer, you will be working within the Advanced Engineering cross-functional team and be responsible for technically leading the embedded hardware design and development activities of high-performance next generation traction related power electronics. You will be identifying advanced engineering requirements and projects to support ongoing power electronics strategy, and co-ordinating activities with external consultancy, university and suppliers.


The senior hardware design engineers collaborate with stakeholders around the business to develop and optimise the hardware Design and Development engineering processes. As well as support resolution of key development, launch and customer quality issues involving power electronic commodities.




  • Strong background in technically leading the embedded electronic design & development lifecycle

  • Expert in creating HW architectures, conceptual designs, simulations, schematics, PCBAs and leading reviews

  • Able to support the resolution of technical issues and associated business case, in the team environment and interface directly to the attribute teams, component areas, manufacturing

  • Product design experience with applications requiring IGBTs and SiC MOSFETs

  • Electronic devices and circuits and their application, including power devices, microcontrollers, programmable logic, switch mode power supplies, analogue and digital circuits, signal processing, protection functions, design for EMC, printed circuit board design and manufacturing processes

  • Hardware circuit analysis and reporting including FMEDAs, FTAs, and diagnostic coverage analysis, DFMEA, DRBFM reliability analysis
