The Opportunity


An exciting opportunity to join the Procurement team within Purchasing at Jaguar Land Rover, where you’ll join a fast-moving team responsible for leading supplier performance to deliver a competitive edge for Jaguar Land Rover in the world of connectivity, autonomy and more.  You will utilise your experience to analyse, define, and implement market and sourcing strategies for your designated commodities.

Alongside managing suppliers, you will also collaborate with internal stakeholders, ensuring that the Global Commodity Strategy and Supply Base Market strategy is effectively deployed throughout Jaguar Land Rover and the external supply chain.  You will have responsibility for pre or post sourcing and contract management activities for your designated commodities and suppliers within your region.

You will develop and execute key performance indicators across the designated regional suppliers, engaging with stakeholders and specialists within the Purchasing Function as required, ensuring supplier performance to meet JLR Quality, Cost, Delivery, Innovation and Sustainability (QCDIS) requirements. 

This role is also a pivotal interface with other key functions within Jaguar Land Rover and acts as a core conduit for true cross functional working across Global Production Purchasing, Material Planning & Logistics, Supplier Technical Assurance, Product Engineering, Cost Engineering and Manufacturing.


Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities


Strategy & Sourcing :
•    Responsible for the generation and execution of commodity and supplier strategy, and the effective operational relationships with designated suppliers in region. 
•    Deliver commodity sourcing in line with policy and to agreed targets through the Global Sourcing Process (GSP) and deploying a Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) approach
•    Ensuring that Suppliers adopt and follow the commodity strategy that delivers improved commercial and operational performance


Cost Management :
•    Manage New Model Programme introduction of designated commodity/system, including contracted supplier obligations, production readiness and resolution of any commercial and/or programme issues/risks.
•    Ensuring effective cost management of designated commodities and suppliers, which will involve launching commodities on new products to target cost, as well as achieving annual cost reduction on current spend.


Supplier Relationship Management :
•    Lead supplier negotiations and contracting of both new and existing model commodities, with support from cross functional regional teams.
•    Key Purchasing representative at Module Business Teams (MBT) to ensure cross-functional alignment on quality, cost, delivery and time requirements pre and post contract award.

•    Undertake any other work as directed by your line manager in connection with your job as may be requested



Knowledge, Skills and Experience

•    Degree qualified or equivalent experience
•    Experience of working in a global, multi-cultural environment
•    Experience delivering complex supply chain solutions in a fast paced, high pressured manufacturing environment
•    Ability to implement purchasing strategies with the focus on total value chain delivery
•    Ability to identify opportunities for creating value in a commodity or commodities


•    Project management experienc
