JOB TITLE: Semiconductor Assurance Engineer
LOCATION: Gaydon
LINE MANAGER: David Offer
 
 
The successful candidate for the above role will retain their current employer, i.e. if you are a Jaguar employee you will continue to be administered on the Jaguar grading structure with the associated terms and conditions. If you are currently on BAC or EMC terms, you will retain your current employer but will transfer to a JLR contract and the associated terms and conditions. 

 

WHAT TO EXPECT 

 

A brand new and fantastic opportunity has arisen within our Semiconductor assurance team within engineering. The successful candidate will have a forward thinking approach on semiconductor availability with our suppliers. Ensuring that semiconductors used in our vehicles are not restricted in supply or limited by technology changes. 

 

Focusing specifically on obsolescence, working with suppliers to understand the semiconductor life cycle and liaising with engineering team's to plan for technology change and potential risks.

 

 

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

 

  • Have full ownership of a significant set of semiconductor data and it's use across our product portfolio. Using the data to provide forecasts, reports and strategy for supplier engagement. 
  • Support the electronics delivery teams, to ensure there is a developed plan to manage product obsolescence, as well as providing support the electronic hardware design teams to define the commonly used semiconductor chipset across JLR electronics commodities.
  • Build strong working relationships with manufacturers, distributors & sub-tier suppliers.
  • Liaise directly with vendors to resolve problems such as single source risks, goods at risk of geographical or political disruption, counterfeit parts, export controls, end of life and obsolescence mgt.
  • Liaise with Vendors and Engineering on problem parts to obtain the right level of technical support as and when necessary, agree satisfactory resolution.

 

 

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

 

Essential-

  • Solid understanding of electrical, electronic and electromechanical components with firm understanding of electronic design principles.
  • Problem solver with an agile way of working
  • Motivated by change management and ability to drive change
  • Strong communication skills from operational to executive level.
  • Relationship and Network builder – internal and external
  • Fast learner – with a curious mindset
  • Business acumen and strategic mindset.
  • Ability of being a strong team player in parallel of driving topics independently.

 

Desirable- 

  • Previous experience in electronic component sourcing would be an advantage
  • University degree, preferably in engineering or business Personal Profile
