Joining & Standards Lead Engineer

Salary: From 1834 eur monthly, 13th salary, 0-15% yearly bonus, other benefits according JLR rules

 

OPPORTUNITY

ME BIW is currently involved with introduction of all new bodyshop projects and changes to existing facilities to support the JLR cycle plan. This role is responsible for the development and implementation of feasible, cost effective manufacturing  solutions – From concept planning, through installation and into production, working closely with product Development  Engineering and Plant to determine optimum solutions. The position may require travel to the engineering centres as well as placement at the manufacturing plants.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The role will involve supporting the local Joining Engineers in ME with weekend support to manage the line builder to install, commission, buy off and drive process optimisation through the build phase.
  • The role will require working with JLRs onsite Joining Dept, Plant quality teardown, Maintenance, as well as process and Engineering to deliver the 130 model in our Nitra facility.
  • The engineer will be expected to manage the JRM process with the vendors and the role will cover joining technologies: SPR, RSW, FDS, Adhesive application and Quiss monitoring systems.
  • Compliance to standard of Hot Joining processes such as resistance spot welding.
  • Compliance to standard of Cold Joining processes such as SPR, Clinching.
  • Working with differing Materials – Aluminium and Steel, Welding with Adaptive Feedback experience. AC and MFDC Welding Experience
  • Developing Joining parameters and processes to Ensure Engineering specifications are achieved.
  • Managing Design changes and adapting processes to suit.
  • Managing Suppliers of key equipment in delivering joint integrity.
  • Overseeing implementation rework processes for containment of any failures
  • Developing Checking procedures for Plant to ensure joining integrity maintained.
  • Reviewing Material Specifications set by product Development, for manufacturing feasibility.
  • Overseeing Joining department input into new AME delivered projects
  • Assisting & Advising Manufacturing Engineering on Manufacturing Joining Issues
  • Project managing Line Builders to JLR in the correct application of JLR Joining Methods
  • Support the Planning and co-ordinating of manufacturing Joining requirements for new model introduction and model year changes.
  • Support Virtual build analysis with Timely and Robust Joint Integrity data
  • Assist with New Model launch equipment commissioning when calibrating Joint Configurations
  • Project manage work through development and monitoring of timing plans
  • Ensure adherence to project deliverables
  • Manage issues and escalate where appropriate
  • Attend programme meetings and escalate where applicable
  • Developing Production Ready Equipment Interfaces (Mechanical & Electrical)
  • Monitoring PLC Logic adherence to Standard Interfaces
  • Robot Manufactures Selection and Software / Process Development
  • Mechanical / Pneumatic / Electrical Design & Installation standards monitoring
  • Commodity Selection and Management through adoption of stringent R+M Principles
  • Overseeing Controls and Standards input into new AME delivered projects
  • Developing new suppliers, cost effectively, into the groups Standards for Equipment Manufacture
  • Assisting & Advising Manufacturing Engineering on Manufacturing Equipment Technical Issues
  • Project managing Line Builders to JLR in the correct application of JLR Standards
  • Support the Planning and co-ordinating of manufacturing facility requirements for new model introduction and model year changes.
  • Support Virtual build analysis with Timely and Robust supplier data / commodity selection.
  • Project manage work through development and monitoring of timing plans
  • Contribute to the development and submission of departmental responses to AIMS, Auto Status, Master Schedules, 8D.

 

CANDIDATE

Essential:

  • Self-motivated, confident, team player and team leader.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong organisational and numerical skills.
  • Result-driven and committed.
  • Ability to work in a fast moving/changing environment. Ability to work under pressure.
  • Enthusiastic, pro-active, problem solver with good interpersonal and negotiating skills.
  • Good sense of personal organisation and time management.
  • Experience of vehicle body assembly process development, joining technologies and body assembly equipment including tooling, automation and robotics.
  • Proven project management experience in installation/commissioning programmes.
  • Computer literacy – Microsoft and CAD.

Desirable:

  • Degree or equivalent in Engineering discipline.
  • Experience of a Launch environment.
  • CAD interrogation experience preferred but not essential.
  • Manufacturing Application experience through design, through to Application and Launch.
  • Detailed Knowledge of Hot and Cold Joining process Implementation in an Automotive environment.
  • Knowledge of and involvement in facility installations, especially in Body Shop, commissioning, highly sought.
  • PLC and Robot Application experience.
  • Project management skills.
