Jaguar Land Rover is harnessing technology to make driving smarter, safer and cleaner. You can help create a world in which responsible, sustainable vehicles revolutionise the driving experience for generations. Our vision is to leverage the incredible potential of technology to build vehicles that not only offer a premium, all-encompassing digital experience, but that also make our customers lives better.

The Opportunity

We are Jaguar Land Rover, and we’re in Manchester. We believe that all of our customers deserve a great connected digital experience and you have a chance to be a part of realising that vision. The teams here at the Digital Delivery Centre (DDC) are on a journey to transform the digital future of Jaguar Land Rover; designing and building innovative systems and products for one of the world’s leading luxury automotive brands in new and exciting ways.

Whether it’s a platform to remotely update cars via Software Over the Air (SOTA) as seen in the brand new Defender, or systems to make the design and engineering of our vehicles more efficient, we work with all parts of the business on some interesting and complex challenges. Don’t just build another website - see the impact of your work as it makes a real difference to our luxury vehicles across the globe and to the customers who love them.

We’re looking for Senior Software Engineers with a passion for innovative problem solving, quality-first coding and continual improvement who want to become true technical leaders. You’ll be working closely with other multi-disciplined engineers with opportunities to learn and enhance your career, as well as inspiring and influencing the wider organisation as we transform how Jaguar Land Rover builds and operates digital vehicles.

•    Contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering practices and standards to enhance the DDC and improve Jaguar Land Rover

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

We’re looking for both backend and frontend engineers, and if you’re comfortable working across the full stack then even better. So we’re certainly keen to talk to people with:
•    5+ years experience with Java (and Spring Boot), Golang or other server-side languages and frameworks
•    OR 5+ years experience with client-side JavaScript and common libraries such as React

Beyond that, the following would be great as well. We don’t expect people to know everything, so even if you’re only familiar with a couple of these then we’d love to hear from you:
•    Real world experience of practices such as Test Driven Development (TDD) and Pair Programming
•    Knowledge and experience of event-driven microservice architectures, RESTful APIs and message queues
•    Comfortable with source code management and version control tools (Git/GitLab/GitHub)
•    Built bespoke enterprise grade cloud-native applications
•    Worked with relational database technologies such as MySQL or similar
•    Quality focussed with experience writing automated unit, integration and acceptance tests
•    Built and managed automated CI/CD pipelines for building, testing and deploying your code

If you’ve got any of the following as well then we’ll really be impressed:
•    Worked in a true DevOps culture, owning and feeling responsible for your code in production, including monitoring and observability with tools such as ELK, Prometheus and Grafana
•    Experience with Kubernetes and cloud infrastructure (GCP/AWS/Azure)
•    Managed data with NoSQL technologies such as MongoDB

Personal Profile

Any of the following will make you stand out as potentially a great fit for our team:

•    Genuine advocate for modern high-quality software engineering and DevOps practices
•    Customer focussed, driven to deliver experiences our users will love and keen to collaborate with different product stakeholders from across the business
•    An individual who is resilient, energetic and enthusiastic, able to deliver results in a complex environment, whilst responding constructively to challenging new ideas and inputs
•    Comfortable challenging existing thinking in a positive way, whilst building credibility and trust through experience and personal style, bringing diverse new ways of thinking and perspectives to the team
•    We particularly welcome female applicants and those from an ethnic minority, as you are under-represented within Jaguar Land Rover at this level

SO WHY US?

Bring all this to the home of premium innovation, and you’ll find the opportunities to further your career with a world-class team, a discounted car purchase and lease scheme for you and your family, membership of a competitive pension plan and performance related bonus scheme. All this and more makes Jaguar Land Rover the perfect place to continue your journey.

Please be aware that we may close this vacancy for applications before the stated deadline if we receive a high volume of interest. We strongly advise you to submit your application as early as possible.
