The Opportunity


We want to “Generate the best automotive experience” therefore, a Principal Product Owner working in Jaguar Land Rover’s Digital Product Platform teams need to be a genuine advocate for modern, high-quality software delivery practices; customer focussed, driven to deliver experiences our customers and consumers will love and keen to collaborate with different stakeholders from across the business. An individual who is resilient, energetic and enthusiastic, able to deliver results in a complex environment, whilst responding constructively to challenging new ideas and inputs. Comfortable challenging existing thinking in a positive way, whilst building credibility and trust through experience and personal style, bringing diverse new ways of thinking and perspectives to the team.


We are looking for Principal Product Owners with a wealth of experience dealing with complex business challenges facing off to the senior engineers and feeding that demand into the development lifecycle, and who are technically skilled and can work with our software engineers, design teams, architects and SREs and have a detailed understanding of software delivery practices, architecture, data constructs and the technical components that support them. Experience in product-to-product connectivity technology would be a distinct advantage.  


You will lead a team of skilled Product Owners and you will be expected to drive the tactical and strategic vision for the team, set operational standards, manage career aspirations and carry out tasks expected of a Senior Leader. You will be a key player in contributing to the design of and delivering the high-quality digital experiences our customers and partners expect of our brand. Reporting directly to the Head of Product for offboard platforms, your exemplary contribution to the team, its operations, its stakeholders and its demand pipeline is an expected part of the role.



Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities


  • Strategy and Planning
  • Own the product road map for your areas and align it to your customer’s strategic goals
  • Define the long-term vision for the product
  • Define metrics to measure success
  • Define product priorities and align across related Product Set’s, PO’s and teams
  • Provide your team of Product Owners with the environment to develop quality products
  • Draft key objectives, benefits, acceptance criteria, expected results and delivery strategies



  • Act as an ambassador for your product-family internally and externally
  • Work closely with product management and senior management to create a product family that fits the company portfolio
  • Increase an understanding of Agile practices, new technologies opportunities and other new trends
  • Play a key role in developing team culture and spirit; build strong relationships with the
  • Agile software development team
  • Metrics and reporting to senior management
  • Follow our competitors and the industry



  • Work with Architecture to plan technical product strategy
  • Assist the architects and data designers in mapping out the systems required to deliver the technical capabilities
  • Ensure that the architecture and data structures are aligned to customer requirements   
  • Ensure that the technical architecture meets the demands of the business customers





  • Experienced in an Agile/Dev Ops environment
  • Able to solve product related problems, make decisions, and deliver your commitments
  • Possess a fundamental understanding of end-to-end customer experience, integration and dependencies
  • Able to collaborate with all stakeholders during the visioning and concept development of a product including senior executives
  • Identify and help the customers understand their value proposition
  • Set out and agree the product iterative and quantifiable steps with stakeholders (MVP)
  • Previous experience in owning complex software products

This role may offer the opportunity for hybrid working where you can split your time between working from home and in the office.
