REQ ID: 89253
JOB TITLE: Systems Architect
SALARY: £43,500-£56,600
POSTING END DATE: 31/08/2022

LOCATION: Gaydon

We’re re-examining our vehicles and what a vehicle means in the emerging world of automation, connectedness, electrification and the shared economy. New ideas, new technology, and new approaches to mobility are our business. Join a team of next generation thinkers.

.

WHAT TO EXPECT

The journey to an ACES (Autonomous, Connected, Electrified, Shared) future is enabled by vehicles that can adapt over time and that are highly available. As a System Architect within ACES, you will join the Remote Connected Vehicle Diagnostics team (part of Product Engineering) on that journey through the roll out of advanced over-the-air functionalities.

Software Over the Air (SOTA) was first launched on the 2020 Land Rover Defender and is being rolled out across to all vehicles with the aim of eventually supporting all of the vehicle’s ECUs. Features Over the Air (FOTA) will allow the user to add new functionality to their vehicle as it becomes available or as they need it (on a subscription basis, for example). Connected Diagnostics Services (diagnostics over-the-air) will provide support for remote prognosis, diagnosis and even correction of erroneous vehicle behaviour without the need to visit service and the long-term monitoring of whole vehicle fleet performance.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

As a Remote Connected Vehicle Diagnostics System Architect, you will be part of a multi-disciplinary systems engineering team which are responsible for the structural and behavioural definition of OTA functionality for current and future vehicle architectures, both “On-Board” the vehicle and Off-Board in Cloud environments.

You will support the generation and maintenance of the SOTA and CDS architectures in model-based engineering tools (Catia Magic Systems) and ensure that artefacts meet the required quality standards for content and traceability.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Essential:

  • Relevant experience of system definition, system architecture development, requirements specification, design/performance modelling, systems integration, system assessment and acceptance.
  • High proficiency in model-based systems engineering tools and techniques, including SysML/UML (ideally Catia Magic System of Systems Architect, or Enterprise Architect/Rhapsody/Simulink).
  • Broad understanding of a range of different vehicle electrical systems and architectures.
  • An individual with a customer first mindset who is easy to do business with and makes people feel special, driven to deliver experiences that are personalised, transparent and dependable.
  • An individual who can challenge existing thinking in a positive way whilst building credibility and trust through experience and personal style.

Desirable:

  • Understanding of automotive software download and diagnostic concepts.
  • Proficiency in requirements definition and requirements management tools (ideally Dassault TRM).
  • Embedded software development experience (ideally C, C++).
  • An individual who enables speed in decision making through establishing alignment, clarity, appropriate resources and sense of urgency whilst bringing others along.
