The PT-5 Department is responsible for the delivery of Electric and Hybrid Battery Technology in support of the product

cycle plan. The department portfolio includes solutions incorporating system engineering, battery, power supply, EDS and

control system technologies.


This role supports the design and verification of battery management systems deployed in LV and HV batteries. The role

looks at all aspects of HW electronics design and release, from design documentation, GRADE and EMC sign off, to

implementation of DV & PV methods.


The successful candidate must be able to work in a multidisciplinary team working

with principal engineers as well as embedded software, functional safety engineers and other specialists.


Design and maintain product architecture of battery electrical switch-gear covering all aspects of the components

function including electrical, mechanical and thermal specifications


Key Skills & Experience required:


Ø Automotive electrical engineering experience 4 years+ and/or

Ø HV electrical engineering experience (>60VDC or >30vac) experience 4 years+

Ø Strong understanding of HV automotive electrical switchgears and over-current protection devices.

Ø Electrical, mechanical and thermal design experience with multi-physics engineering capability.

Ø EMC and ESD design and/or validation experience.

Ø FMEA Ø Data driven engineering via calculations and simulations, worst case analysis.

Ø Design against automotive standards and legislation requirement

Ø Understanding of Li-ion batteries.

Ø Understanding of battery management system functions, such as battery protection logics, diagnostics and functional safety.

Ø Knowledge of HV Vehicle systems and components with a basic knowledge of vehicle architecture and automotive design.

Ø Ability to conceptualise electrical and electronic schematic according to the specification of the project.

Ø Experience in detailed electrical drawings and PCB layouts.

Ø Experience in HW debugging and fast prototyping, as well as instrumentation.

Ø Experience in BOM, CAD drawings schematics, datasheets etc.

Ø Ability to take designs from prototype through to production.

Ø Experience in maintaining existing electrical design, selecting appropriate components, and laying out in a robust design.

Ø Should be able to read and understand hardware schematics independently

Ø Planning and project management skills, e.g. APQP or CCDS
