JOB TITLE: ADAS Functional CAD Senior Engineer

The Opportunity

This role is in the ADAS Functional Packaging Team, which works through the virtual series of a vehicle development, and is responsible for ensuring correct integration in CAD of exterior sensors required for autonomy features. This includes ultrasonics, camera and radar technologies.
 

Key Performance Indicators
•    Setting up Vehicle A-surface sensitive Radar, PDC ultra-sonic sensors and Image recognition cameras and Proximity cameras in the package virtual series.
•    Supplier liaison for sharing of CAD geometry (TCe, CATIA v5).
•    To model functional requirements for new systems or features.
•    Supporting cradle-to-grave Pre-PS, PS and Post PS activity in broader ADAS community from a CAD perspective.
•    Supporting AIMs issues of the Lead Engineers from a CAD perspective.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
A successful applicant will communicate with various CoCs like Studio, Body and Electrical Engineering to make sure ADAS requirements are adhered to and deliver our features to the customer. This includes representing ADAS functional requirements in senior manager / CPE escalation session.


•    Creation of vehicle concept proposals in the form of vehicle architecture package layouts.
•    Creation of outline component and system proposals to further the vehicle package development.
•    Definition and development of detailed vehicle packages at the whole vehicle or package zone level.
•    Tracking and monitoring resolution of all geometric issues within a package zone.
•    Mediation and negotiation between CoC areas to develop solutions for geometric issues within a package zone.
•    Leadership of the package process to deliver high quality, clash free virtual car definitions, co-ordinating the activities of all CoC's by use of ad-hoc and official package zone meetings.     
•    Undertake any other work as directed by their line manager in connection with their job as may be requested.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Essential:
•    Experience of CATIA for detail or packaging design  (Other 3D CAD experience will be considered).
•    Good communication skills - written, graphical and verbal.
•    Experience of negotiating solutions in an area of technical conflict. 
•    The commitment to deliver quality results in a flexible and dynamic team environment.
•    A proven ability to work within strict timing constraints.
•    The ability to achieve results in an efficient manner, making effective use of all resources available within the company and outside.

Desirable: 
•    Demonstrate enthusiasm, the ability to communicate and influence change.
•    Knowledge of electronic based parts listing and family trees (TCe) would be advantageous.
•    A working knowledge of Vehicle Packaging roles and responsibilities would be advantageous.
•    Experience of presentation to peers and senior management would be advantageous.

For promotions, the salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including the size of and skills required for the role, the external market value of the role and your individual knowledge and experience.
