JOB TITLE: Structural Technical Specialist
SALARY: £46,000 - £51,000

The Opportunity


Work within multi-disciplinary team to lead the technical design of structural accessories, including first principles design and validation of mechatronic systems. Collaborating with subject matter experts to develop commodity strategies based on self-sought automotive technical advances.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities


•    Using first principles, lead technical design of structural accessories to deliver against performance targets
•    Optimise manufacturing processes, balancing performance requirements and commodity cost targets
•    Contribute to the delivery of commodity targets specifically for quality, cost and time  
•    Work with and support a multi-disciplinary team to evaluate commodity concepts, features and alternatives and develop production releases
•    Develop and maintain departmental standards, design rules, DFMEA and BoD’s.
•    Work within a cross-functional team to ensure robust delivery
•    Develop the team through first principles engineering theory
•    Collaborate with departmental subject matter experts to ensure the latest automotive technologies and processes are understood and considered for future strategies
•    Build, maintain and manage relationships with internal and external suppliers and stakeholders. 
•    Contribute to the development and optimisation of system component costs, investment, vendor tooling and design and development
•    Undertake any other work as directed by their line manager in connection with their job as may be requested 



•    Experience of technical design of mechatronic systems for vehicle programs
•    Proven track record of successful design validation through physical testing
•    Coordination of multifunctional teams
•    Comprehensive MS office (excel)
•    Degree qualified or equivalent experience
•    Experience of delivering and developing technical systems
•    Sound first principles knowledge of mechanical systems




•    Knowledge of automotive bolt on commodities and interactions
•    Understanding of automotive mechatronic systems
•    Knowledge of JLR Engineering release processes and change management systems
•    Project management experience
