WHAT TO EXPECT

 

In order to meet Jaguar Land Rover’s ambitious global growth plans and tackle the ever-increasing challenges being faced by our business Jaguar Land Rover is harnessing the power of data and through industry 4.0 and expanding the capability of its Purchasing Transformation and Operations team. The Purchasing Analytics team is a well-established team within Purchasing Transformation and Operations with a vision to create a competitive advantage for Jaguar Land Rover by delivering monetary value from data. The team will be responsible for working with domain experts across the Purchasing function to define Jaguar Land Rover’s internal procurement 4.0 roadmap and operationalise digital applications that are underpinned by advanced data analytics and the latest digital technologies.

 

The Purchasing Analytics Team is responsible for developing and delivering our Purchasing analytics strategy, coordinating analytics programmes across the function to solve complex analytics problems. To do this we are assembling an expert multi-disciplinary team of analytics and digital professionals from a wide range of backgrounds. Examples of potential projects include providing new actionable insight that optimises Jaguar Land Rover’s purchasing activities, to reinventing purchasing processes through automation of data processes. You’ll be required to work closely with Purchasing, Supply Chain and Logistic experts, as well as with the central Analytics Centre of excellence.

 

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

 

We are looking for outstanding problem solvers who are inquisitive and excellent with technology. You’ll be executing data analytics projects that are varied in nature and demand a wide spectrum of skills from data manipulation through to data visualisation. You’ll need to love working with data and to be detail orientated and methodical. Whilst existing knowledge of numerous analytical tools is not a prerequisite, self-motivation to learn and an ambition to become an expert in applying such technologies is essential. You’ll be required to work closely with Purchasing, Supply Chain and Logistic experts, as well as with the central Analytics Centre of excellence.  You’ll focus on preparing, assessing and cleansing the data and data structures needed for analytics projects. You’ll need to have a background working with data and be a strong independent problem solver capable of working through complex undocumented data structures with minimal guidance following a project kick off. The role includes supporting junior team members with tools and technology of the trade therefore you’ll need to have confidence in your ability to be a good coach.

 

In addition to project work, the Purchasing Analytics team also has responsibility for helping colleagues around the business with best practice support. In your role you’ll prepare data structures and flows for analytics projects as well as work with business data owners to elicit undocumented assumptions and quality issues in data. In addition you will build dashboards to visualise solutions. You’ll mentor junior team members, deliver data science training and maintain quality of your coding and reporting all assumptions and risks implied in their work. You’ll need to document your work to a high standard and continually develop your data skills and seek new solutions to problems.
