JOB TITLE: Embedded Software Developer
SALARY: £35,000 - £43,000
POSTING END DATE: 31.05.2019
LOCATION: Manchester

Dreaming for tomorrow is about more than ideas and ambitions. We’re already building the next generation of vehicles, using repurposed and brand-new technology and techniques. We’re doing more than dream, we’re creating the future of mobility and automotive for years to come.

Every moment of every day, IT keeps Jaguar Land Rover moving in the right direction. Without it, our business simply cannot evolve. So the projects you work on here will have a real impact.  Your ideas and solutions will not just help manage operations – they will transform the business and, ultimately, affect how every one of our functions works.

The automotive industry is changing rapidly, as we accelerate towards autonomous driving, connectivity and electrification. By joining our team, you’ll develop and shape the future of our electrical and electronic systems from a software perspective.

In your new role as an Embedded Software Engineer, you’ll be developing the foundational software that will transform our products into true digital devices as part of a connected ecosystem. We’re looking for Software Engineers who are willing to apply their skills to new and exciting challenges, including the development of embedded software for our Electronic Control Units, with a focus on product impact and scope of innovation.

You’ll help us to solve key software problems, using a variety of problem-solving tools and methodologies to eliminate issues through analysis and testing, and regularly coach and mentor others in your findings and subject matter expertise.

You’ll be capable of technically defining, developing, and maintaining full software using enhanced knowledge of embedded Operating Systems such as Linux and QNX Neutrino, alongside experience of developing embedded software in C or C++. You’ll have good knowledge of software structures and architectures, as well as the software development process and industry tool sets.

Ideally you’ll be degree educated, bringing prior experience of working with automotive system functions such as powertrain, chassis, infotainment or advanced driver assistance systems. Any exposure to telecoms, cloud / fog systems, or Linux application development is highly desirable.

Jaguar Land Rover considers that this role does not meet the criteria to be considered within the Home Office Shortage Occupation list. Therefore, Jaguar Land Rover will not support an application for visa sponsorship and all applicants for this role must have an unrestricted right to work for an indefinite period in the UK.

Bring all this to the home of premium innovation, and you’ll find the opportunities to further your career with a world-class team, a discounted car purchase and lease scheme for you and your family, membership of a competitive pension plan and performance related bonus scheme. All this and more makes Jaguar Land Rover the perfect place to continue your journey.

Jaguar Land Rover is committed to equal opportunity for all.
