WHAT TO EXPECT

 

The department is responsible for the delivery of batteries that achieve best in class attributes. To support the business growth strategy, an opportunity exists for a Commodity Leader for all BEV & PHEV battery projects.

 

Managing the delivery of the battery projects from concept phase onwards, this role requires effective management of both direct team members and the broader cross-functional team in the planning, co-ordination, delivery and reporting of all actions relating to project delivery, using PCDS in conjunction with other company processes as required.

 

Providing the key focal point for all cross functional delivery activities of the programme, the successful candidate will Lead the management of weekly delivery meetings such as Powertrain Steering Team, AIMs reviews, PSW Governance, Technical meetings, Cost & Risk management meetings, etc.

 

This role is critical to supporting the delivery of the latest and future BEV & PHEV Battery programmes for JLR, ensuring programmes are delivered on time and quality.

 

 

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities including Key performance indicators:

 

  • Lead and manage the Battery Commodity Delivery Team to ensure effective and timely delivery of Battery projects to the agreed quality and attribute targets.
  • To manage all aspects of programme TFLE definition and delivery.
  • To manage prototype and production part releases, ordering and budgets for all build phases
  • To manage late parts change and containments into the program and manage the bill of material with the PI team and identify any issues with the bill of material, chairing the change management reviews.
  • Lead Supplier governance reviews and develop/manage supplier relationships of applicable projects as appropriate
  • To take responsibility for the people management and development of the team who directly support achievement of the above responsibilities.
  • Work in concert with D&R and Integration LL6’s on target, PDS, CCDS, suppliers, etcprocess commonality etc and with LL6 Controls manager to assure integration of Cal and Controls effort.
  • To facilitate clear lines of communication and effective working relations across all cross-functional business functions – eg Design, Quality, Purchasing, Planning, Finance, Manufacturing, Product information & Launch

 

 

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

 

Essential:

 

  • Proven capability in Leadership and Management skills
  • A motivated self-starter capable of taking decisions at a high level, which are in the best interests of the business and customer. 
  • Proven ability to Project Manage complex projects
  • Proven ability to communicate with and manage a diverse, long distance supplier base.
  • A Flexible approach to adoption of new technologies and standards and changing working practices.
  • Knowledge of eFDVS / RMDV, AIMs, WERS. Training will be made available as required
  • Knowledge and use of Problem solving tools (Six sigmal, 8D, DMAIC)
  • Good knowledge of PCDS along with experience on PCDS oriented programs

 

Desirable:

 

  • Qualified to degree level
  • Knowledge and application of JLR's failure mode avoidance tools and techniques.
  • Familiar with project management disciplines
