                          Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Competence)
                          Level 3 BTEC Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge)
Location – West Midlands 
Salary – Circa £13,000

Special Operations


Special Operations is responsible for delivering luxury and performance halo derivatives of our core models as well as accessories across all our vehicles. We’re responsible for bespoke customisations, armoured vehicles, classic restorations of iconic vehicles. We’re also specialists in preparing vehicles for events. 


The Apprenticeship


The Advanced Apprentice (level 3) Special Operations is a four-year programme, delivered under standards approved by the IfA (Institute for Apprenticeships). This exciting programme will develop your practical skills and cultivate the knowledge you need for your role. This is all achieved whilst developing your knowledge, skills and business behaviours such as teamworking and problem-solving. A network of Work Based Learning Managers and line managers will regularly review your progress and provide support, advice and guidance along the way, to enable you to perform at your best. 

 

You will learn how to work safely at all times and make a technical contribution to either the design, development, quality assurance, manufacture, installation, commissioning, decommissioning, operation or maintenance of our products or equipment.

 

You can expect to spend a significant amount of your first year at the training provide (Trident College) as a Jaguar Land Rover employee on full salary learning the engineering basics, you’ll need in your role with us. Outside of college term-times, you’ll compliment your studies working at a Jaguar Land Rover plant alongside members of our skilled teams. During your second and third years you’ll continue your studies at college on a one to two-day release basis with the constant guidance and support of a Workplace Learning Manager.

 

Your fourth year will see you complete your end-point assessment and achieve your Level 3 Apprenticeship, ready for an amazing career in a permanent Special Operations role. 


What’s required


To be eligible for our advanced (level 3) apprenticeship programme you will need to demonstrate a strong motivation for working in our Special Operations function and a good understanding of a level 3 'hands on' apprenticeship and the learning and training that is involved. You will also need to meet our academic entry criteria:

 

GCSE Maths and English Language at level 4 (C) or higher and in addition 3 further GCSEs at level 4 (C) or higher to include one STEM subject or an Engineering vocational qualification level 3 90 credits/540 GLH or higher. 
 

Future career prospects


Join the Advanced Apprentice (level 3) Special Operations Scheme, and you’ll work and make your mark in one of three areas: 


Event Vehicle Operations (EVO)


We are trusted providers of specialised vehicle preparation and event services to the entire business. We prepare vehicles for all of our key events including motor shows, press drives and magazine shoots. Apprentices work on anything from engine and gearbox removal to bodywork profiling and have 11 training cars to work on.


Classic


We restore and recreate the most iconic past Jaguar Land Rover vehicles, and maintain parts supply for classics, some of which are sold direct to our customers. Apprentices will learn how to work on classics such as the E types, XJS and the Range Rover V8 engine.


Special Vehicle Operations (SVO)


We bring to life our luxury and performance halo derivatives of core models. We also look after our commissioning suite, where customers can configure bespoke vehicles. Apprentices will become skilled technicians on these unique vehicles including the F-Pace, Velar, Evoque and F-types.
